Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

I just don’t see them getting the chance to not take him. Even with Burrow, Herbert, Okudah, Young, etc... It’s possible, I guess. I see some mocks with two other tackles taken before the Browns at 10. I see mocks with the Browns taking Austin Jackson from USC (ahead of Wirfs, who is going to Minnesota at 25.)

I’m disappointed because this draft just seems to be deep at multiple positions and the Browns don’t have the capital of years past.
Its the browns and its analytics ... you know deep down they will screw it up... except a screwup and be pleasantly surprised if they make a decent pick

This is pretty funny. Stole this from Chase Stuart. Graph shows the Browns all time franchise winning % after each season.

Just a slight recession. They'll bounce back.

Hoping the football gods allow Tristan Wirfs to fall to that 10th pick.

Combine warrior. Kid has a non-existent kick/drop step and was shown up by speed off the edge pretty bad. On top of the fact for the kid being hyped as a Nelson type mauler... he sure looks anything but. Scope some of his cutups on youtube because the workouts we saw today don't justify taking him 1st round. Good athlete, but needs a HELL of a lot of work before he's ready to be a pro tackle.

It's Andrew Thomas or Wills for me (or bust)

The issue I have with letting Schob walk has a few moving parts to it.

First - we paid Kirksey nearly 10m a year and the guy can't seemingly stay healthy. I would trust his and Vernon's contracts are on the chopping block this season so it's not like we have a ton of money wrapped up in that position group. It doesn't sound like Schob is being overly demanding here when the rumors are around 10m a year for his contract. The guy has produced at a higher level than the guy who got paid before him (Kirk) This team has the cap space so money isn't the primary concern here.

Second - continuity means a great deal to me. Especially when you have a new and young DC coming into the fold. I think Barry is already overestimating his abilities as a GM to so easily replace players at a cost savings to this team. Not taking into account losing NFL veterans and home grown talent on a team that could use as much of it as humanly possible. It's simply another hole for this team to address in a crucial off-season. LB's are the glue that holds a defense together. Throwing a few 1st and 2nd year players in there isn't a very common recipe for success.

I have a feeling Schobert will get overpaid by someone so I don't know if that 10M number is accurate. I would love to keep him around to QB the defense, but I feel like his numbers were better than his play kind of like how D'Qwell Jackson always put up big numbers. I think Kirksey and Vernon are gone as well, which will open up 20M. I don't scout the league, but I'm wondering if they have their eye on another LB that they feel is more worth the 10-15M that Schobert is going to get. They have to draft LT at 10 so in FA they need to look for RT, DL, and LB. I'm not comfortable going into the next season with Mack, Takitaki, and some rookies to battle for 3 LB spots. They need an established vet in there.

Someone pointed out who all Depodesta and Crew let go the last time when his analytics buddy Sashi was in charge.... hind sight is 20/20 but most of us woulda seen that those were bad moves to let Mack/Schwartz go... as well as a few on the defense...
