As Steele pointed out he was on his back all night but still managed to throw for 300+ yards... Darnold reminds me a great deal of Matthew Stafford and there's no denying this kids talent. He's big, he's more mobile than people give him credit for and of course he has very good arm.
His knocks are his decision making and if the Browns for once sat their rookie QB for an entire year or two IMO he could become a very good QB.
As for Barkley? I think he's on the level of a Zeke.. I personally choose Zeke because he is good after contact but Barkley can no doubt be a Fournette, Gurley or Zeke type of impact year 1. Barkley can catch, he's really really sudden, and he's big enough to get a tough yard when needed.
Bottom line this team needs A LOT. So you take players who are safe IMO and not "projects"... IMO, Barkley is a safe bet to be successful and the Browns could use a whole lot of "successful"
Barkley is awful after contact.
He shies away from contact.
He plays like Eric Metcalf with the body of a power back ... people see the highlights of his big runs and the numbers of his size... but he doesnt have the smashmouth mindset.
He's a great player but no 'stud'. I doubt he has speed to be Metcalf in the NFL, and again doesnt deal with contact. He gets worse after 15 carries, worse in the 4th Q.
He'll be a great x-factor piece for somebody catching out of the backfield or where he can be part of a backfield duo.
But Browns already have Duke.
Barkley is this year's media hype player. Which is exactly why everyone is saying Browns. They let Kiper do their scouting.
