Re: Multiple league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter that they believe the Browns will trade Gordon before Monday, adding that teams already are calling the Browns.
Gordon is a vested veteran and is not subject to waivers. If he is cut by the Browns, he will become a free agent. If another team trades for Gordon, he will play this season for his minimum salary and can be tendered after this season.
As various elite coaches have said... doesn't matter the talent level... you have to be able to count on the player to be there game day...
Gordon can be elite... but IMO everyone that knows of him... is waiting till he blows himself up.. sad...
I feel the Browns are just fed up with dealing with Gordon's BS. This "We're going to cut him on Monday" was just a way to let other teams know they they are done with him and to make an offer if they want him. He hasn't failed a test he has too much value for a team to not be willing to throw a pick at the Browns for a flier. If they truly have a handful of teams interested they might be able to pull a halfway decent pick. If I were the Browns I'd try to find a way to make the pick conditional based on performance. If the trade goes through and he fails a drug test next week we get a 7th rounder. If he plays 10 games and puts up vintage JG numbers we get something better. I'd have to think a team would be willing to part with a 4th rounder in the event he goes for 1000 yards this season.
