God love ya all (in my best Irish accent). We are a beaten-down lot are we not? This is the first time that I can remember the Browns making moves in areas that needed to get better now in.

Taylor for the 1st pick in the 3rd round. Beats the hell out of anyone we have had in recent memory at QB. I like the move.

Landry for the 23rd pick in the 4th round and a 7th rounder next year. As long as the Browns get him signed long term, this is a great move to help the receiver corp. IF Gordon stays out of trouble, Coleman can find some line of consistency and Pryor returns as has been rumored. Potentially this could be the best group of receivers the Browns have had in a long time.

Randall, 15th pick in rounds 4 & 5 for Kizer, 1st pick in rounds 4 & 5. Once the Browns brought in Taylor, Kizer was gone. Even though Randall is a wild card, he does come in at a position of need. So if Randall is a serviceable contributor, this is a win for the Browns.

So I see 2-3 more additions in FA at DB, DL and OL. Crowell is not resigned. Might even be another trade or two.

The Browns still have 5 picks in the first two rounds and picks in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th. 9 picks overall.

What do the Browns do? I think they go some combination of QB, RB, or CB/DE with picks 1 and 4 with a possibility of a trade down.

While the regular season has recently been disappointing, at least we have the off-season to the watch the efforts again by a new front office to keep us entertained. GO BROWNS!!

By the numbers, this teams rush defense was better with him on the field. I don't understand this move and it kind of pisses me off.

edit: 3rd round pick in 2019. Jesus H Fuck.
I do not think that the ever lived up to the expectations that he had when he was drafted. I remember you are a big fan of his coming out of college. I do not think trading him is going to set the Browns back any further:biggrin: They have plenty of defensive lineman..

Here's the thing on why I was a fan and why expectations that he was the next Ngata needed to be addressed. He wasn't the generational talent like Haloti was. That 2014 season was abysmal because we simply couldn't stop the run.
Danny was drafted to help shore up the interior rush defense and he did just that. Sure not the sexy pick, but when he's on the field it's effective. Imagine that 2014 team playing more 1gap assignments, not being so passive and having Shelton in the middle. You probably win another game or two and contend for a wildcard spot - they were THAT piss poor up front.

This does nothing but create another need at the nose. Jobi wasn't healthy last year but flashed, Brantley is your 3-tech along with Meder and sliding Ogbah in there as well. You need a big man to take on double teams, even in a four man front.

Clearly Williams gave up on him last year. I don’t get it, but they obviously don’t see him as part of the future.

Which is weird because Williams openly said Danny was someone he wanted to draft while in St. Louis.

The return is just head scratching and keeping Shelton to see what he could do this season far outweighs what we got in return.

I know you follow the Browns a lot closer than me:wink: but does this move cancel out what they did yesterday and I do not understand why you do not wait and see what they do to possibly replace Danny.

We also traded a 2018 fifth-round pick to get a third-round pick in 2019.

Given the light return, i can't help but think he was one of the guys Dorsey was addressing in those scathing comments he fired off shortly after he was hired. Maybe he's not a worker. Maybe he's a complainer. Could be any number of things, but it's gottba be something because they obviously wanted him gone.

The few times i saw him i was never overly impressed. He wasn't anything special, but not a total piece of trash like Mingo, Erving, Gilbert, etc.. He was just very "meh" to me.
