One thing I can't fault Jackson on - the front offices' that he was saddled with the first couple years handed him next to nothing in NFL talent. I really don't think that can be disputed.

It starts at the top and, sadly, Haslam is still the owner.

I agree completely that he was handed a shit sandwich. But there is a lot of parity around the league. Going 1-31 is really, really hard to do. I'd wager a large sum of my savings that it'll never happen again. I'm not saying anybody would have made them a .500 team or anything, but winning more than 1 game...well, yeah. I think just about anybody could do that. Seems like every year, some team is ID'd as a potential 0-16 team (like the Jets last year), yet they somehow manage to win 3-4 games.

Since the league went to the 16 game schedule, 40 years ago (1978), there have been:

Two 0-16 teams:
Detroit, 2008
Cleveland, 2017

Nine 1-15 teams (and how they faired the following season):
2016, Cleveland (0-16, -1)
2009, St. Louis (7-9, +7)
2007, Miami (11-5, +10)
2001, Carolina (7-9, +6)
2000, San Diego (5-11, +4)
1996, NY Jets (9-7, +8)
1991, Indianapolis (9-7, +8)
1990, New England (6-10, +5)
1989, Dallas (7-9, +6)
1980, New Orleans (4-12, +3)

So, the eight previous one win teams improved by an average of 7 wins the following year, with three of them actually posting a winning record. The Clowns somehow, someway managed to get WORSE. Part of that blame certainly falls on the absolute joke front offices they've had, but it takes some serious incompetence in the coaching department to go from one to zero wins in the free agency era.

He needs to just stop talking. Hang out, wait for an OC job in the offseason, because he will never be a HC again.

He isn't saying anything particularly inflammatory, but dude, you were fired because you sucked. Plain and simple. Why continue talking about it? Say "no comment" and move the fuck on. He's getting the kind of attention you'd expect a successful HC that was just canned would get, not a guy that won 7.5% of the games he coached.

I agree on Hue's ability (lack thereof) as a HC. I guess my point is that, unless ownership changes or does a 180 and Dorsey stacks the deck, the HC will continue to be handicapped with poor drafts.

Though there have been some nice returns early on with Ward, Avery, Chubb, Ratley and maybe Corbett depending on where and when they play him. Ultimately I think he ends up taking Tretter's job at center.
I'm still on the fence about Baker but I remain hopeful.

Especially a guy that could have won 3x more games if he didn't suck at his job.

The Browns have been shit for a long time and the previous coaches all won at a higher clip than Hue. More talent, less talent. It’s Browns talent and it’s always been terrible. Fuck off Hue. Just go away.

What KC is doing is what I feel the Browns need to emulate next year. Eric Bienienmy (spell check) should absolutely be on the list of HC candidates for this team. What they do with the shifts, the motions, screens, built in sight adjustments, RPO's, bootlegs and zone stretch game is exactly the offense this team should go for with Baker at the helm.
