Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

Yup. No way Mack will get tagged if they cannot come to an agreement. A C is tagged like any OL which would be way too much to pay for a decent center. I hope they do not have to tag Ward because that would hurt us in getting a another DB in free agency. Do not want to tie up too much money in the defensive backfield. I thought that maybe Haden could talk Ward into signing since they are good friends.

Are you positive about the bolded part? I think it goes by specific position so tackles would get paid for the average of the tackles, gaurds as guards and centers as centers. I will check into myself but I'm just busy right now.

You are correct it would be top 5 o linemane period and there is no way we are using that on a center.

Yeah, no chance we are going to that on Mack, way too much money for a center.

They either need to sign Mack if they want him to stay, tell him to bring them an offer from another team so they can beat it, or let him walk if he is asking for too much money and they aren't willing to beat another deal. The tag won't work on a center. With so much cap space this year It would be good for the Browns to front-load contracts for guys like Mack, Ward, and Haden so they take less of a cap hit for the next 4 years when they have more money going elsewhere.

They could use the tag on Ward if they need to. 8 mil for one year is ok for him, but if they want to keep these guys they are probably going to have to overpay for them compared to teams that are closer to the Super Bowl. Luckily both of these guys are young enough that they aren't going to take less money to go to a winner. So money will talk.

I really hope some of the young guys that they stashed last year like Fragel, Faulk, and Slaughter can develop into players by next season. If so that could really lower the amount of holes that need to be filled between now and then.

Give banner credit on one thing, the fas they signed last year can be dumped after this season with little cap hit in the future. They will also inevitably waive or restructure both Rubin and Jackson to free up more room.

So they can definitely frontload Haden, mack, and ward as much as possible and sign a decent fa or two.

Love the first one but Polian freaked me out on Mike and Mike this morning talking about Bridgewater's freakishly small hands.

The one problem that I see with this draft is that you have the Browns taking too many DTs. That is probably their strongest position. I guess I would substitute a DB at pic 2B and in round 4 I would look for something on the offensive side of the ball.

Give banner credit on one thing, the fas they signed last year can be dumped after this season with little cap hit in the future. They will also inevitably waive or restructure both Rubin and Jackson to free up more room.

I would also give them some props for trading the pics from last year's draft for this year's because everyone is saying that this draft class is a lot deeper than last year's.
I would hope that they would sign more than one or two FA's with their available cap money. I mean how long do you want to sit on that money.

eh? I thought read this morning Bridgewater had 9 1/4" hands.. per the NFL.com article -
Many consider 9 inches to be the minimum standard for NFL quarterbacks
its not much above the minimum but still its not like they are freakishly small

Hear the possibility of reunion between #Browns coach Mike Pettine and S Jairus Byrd is real. Bills could complicate with a tag & trade tho

Jabaal Sheard + draft pick for Bryd?
