Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

A couple things - first: I had no idea how shitty buffalo was against the run this year. Looking at some of the breakdowns from their more educated fans - they seem to feel the coaching and gameplan was an issue. I guess a lot of them had enough after Atlanta plowed through their front 7. That's concerning.

2nd - I see very little difference between Hoyer and Cousins other than one knows the offensive tendencies of Shannahan. I'm not sure I'd be willing to part with a decent pick for Cousins. I just don't see the upside.

Do not want Cousins, he is a younger, less polished version of Hoyer at this point. Draft someone that has more potential that can sit behind Hoyer for a year.

I'm kind of thinking that if it comes down to drafting one of the available QBs at 4 or trading down they need to trade down and get more picks.

NONONONONONONONONONO

How many more picks do you want? We have enough, We have the 4th pick, If this front office falls in love with a QB then use our picks to trade up and get him (please for all that is mighty, please let them not trade up for Johnny Overrated). Bridgewater or Bortles please!

But if they don't draft a QB at #4... take a player, DO NOT TRADE DOWN! There are some impact studs at the top of this draft. You telling me you would rather trade down than take Clowney or Barr? Or pick Watkins???

Would love to have the luxury of taking Watkins at 4. Him and Gordon combined with Cameron would give us real passing threats all over the field for the first time since the Browns have come back. Plus, gives us insurance if Flash gets caught smoking the cheeba again. I do not think its going to happen but Watkins is the number one WR, but I also think that there is a lot of talent at WR position in this draft too. I would really like Carr with the second first rounder I think he is a perfect fit to sit for a year or two behind Hoyer and develope him. I think Bortles may end up going 1 and I think Bridgewater would go before the Browns pick at 4. So your looking at Manziel at four right now unless Carr really improves his stock at the combine. A lot can change between now and draft time, teams are still doing their due dilligence but no matter what the FO has to hit on at least 3 of those first 7 picks.

Short answer - as many as it takes so LOLbardi can't fuck it up except by chance.
Actually - if you'd read what I put - IF it comes down to drafting one of these QBs or trading down you trade down - that doesn't include guys like Watkins or Clowney or any of the rest. And if a team like Jacksonville is in love with Johnny Hatecrime, draftrape them and take their picks. 100 times out of 100.

Don't believe the hype - none of these QBs are going to be Andrew Luck or RGIII, that's all media hype at this point.

I'd sit at 4 and take the QB that they are in love with if he is there. I'm not trading up unless it's a steal and not Johnny Dickhead. If the QB they want is gone take Watkins. IMO if they don't take a QB at 4 they need to wait till the 3rd for a QB. You don't pick Carr in the first round and sit him behind Hoyer. You can take a guy like Boyd, Murray, or Mettenberger in the third if you want someone to sit for a year or two. Either all in on a guy like Bridgewater or look for a Russell Wilson type to battle Hoyer. I would be very happy if they could find a way to turn their second first rounder and second rounder into Mosley and Hyde.

It's going to be the opposite...Houston is going to play LOLbardi like a fiddle and they are going to end up trading 2-3 1st rounders to trade up to get the Money Badger...you watch.

I don't see Banner letting that happen. He likes to win trades and giving up 2-3 first rounders to move up 3 spots to pick a player that will probably be there at 4 isn't a win.

Let's just say you are way, way, WAY more optimistic in your appraisal of this FO than I am. I HOPE you are right, but...

Fuck the front office and whatever QB they "fall in love with". Taking Manziel at #4 is similar to Jacksonville convincing themselves Blaine Gabbert was a franchise QB 4 years ago.

The only thing that scares me about Watkins is his injury history and if his value may be a bit inflated due to facing the worst defense in Ohio State history. I've no doubt of his physical capabilities, as he's quite the specimen. His route running is interesting, as all I remember him running is the go, slant or curl.

If Banner sees the QB's in the draft like I see them I'd say there is <10% chance of trading up. My logic falls down if they see one of the top 3 QB's as a game changing type of QB. If I'm worried about anything it would be that.

If Bortles goes #1 to the Texans... They better be on the phone to trade to #2 to grab Bridgewater.

But like you said, we still have months until the draft. Got to do the due dilligence and better go through the top 10 QBs with a fine tooth comb. Find a guy... if they like one of the lesser QBs better (ie not the top 3 QBs) Make sure you grab him with their 2nd first rounder or 2nd round pick. Sorry... if they target a guy and HOPE he gets to the 3rd round... pick him in the 2nd to make sure you get him.
