Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

If Banner sees the QB's in the draft like I see them I'd say there is <10% chance of trading up. My logic falls down if they see one of the top 3 QB's as a game changing type of QB. If I'm worried about anything it would be that.

I don't want them to trade to the #1 pick unless it is a steal... but trading up to #2... to make sure they get the QB they want and make sure Jacksonville or some other team doesn't move up to take him, they better do it. Cuz if Banner decides to sit at #4 and we watch Oakland or some other team move up to #2 and we see the top 3 QBs gone before #4... then people are going to be outraged.

Banner and LOLbardi have to ask themselves what is more likely to get them fired after the season. Is is better to go all in on the QB that you think is the best and risk him being a bust or take someone later and risk that the first round QB that you wanted has a great season while your 3rd rounder can't beat out Hoyer? I'm sure they are talking to Haslam so he'll know who they want and will grade their performance accordingly.

The other bit of hope is that Farmer turned down the Fins to stay in Cleveland so I'm sure his say will count in this. I have more faith in him than the rest of the FO.

As far as Farmer goes don't forget they only gave LOLbardi the GM title so that they could name Farmer Assistant GM(needed a step up in title to be able to interview i do believe). LOLbardi is really just player of personnel and I do believe Farmer's voice is just as loud on draft decisions if not louder than LOLbardi's.

If Bortles goes #1 to the Texans... They better be on the phone to trade to #2 to grab Bridgewater.

But like you said, we still have months until the draft. Got to do the due dilligence and better go through the top 10 QBs with a fine tooth comb. Find a guy... if they like one of the lesser QBs better (ie not the top 3 QBs) Make sure you grab him with their 2nd first rounder or 2nd round pick. Sorry... if they target a guy and HOPE he gets to the 3rd round... pick him in the 2nd to make sure you get him.

The 1st pick of the 2nd round is reserved for a one Carlos Hyde.

Will people really be outraged if they don't draft a QB at #4 ?
Seems to me like the media is a lot higher on Bridgewater, Bortles, and Manziel than everyone else. They're a poor mans version of the Leinart, Cutler, Young draft.
Personally, I don't see a QB worth taking in the top-10 this draft... and I have a feeling stock will fall through the Combine; but media pressure about QBs may keep them priorities.

If QB's go 1-3 I hope Atlanta really wants to trade up for Clowney. I'd be happier with Watkins than any of the QB's.

Well, maybe not outraged, but there will be alot of local media types that are out for Lombardi to give them all the ammunition to go bat shit crazy on this front office. Also, it will look bad if another RG3 trade media circus happens where the Browns are reported to want QB X, but are outbid to trade up to get him.

As for my personal opinion... I really don't know yet. I like Bortles and Bridgewater at this moment. Haven't watched enough or read enough yet to really figure it out yet (since we have like 3 more months, I am trying not to go crazy yet)

Watkins? I like him... but he has been inury prone in his career (as a guy that owned him in my keeper fantasy draft, he seemed like he missed 3-4 games a year due to small minor injuries.) So not sure I like him at #4, actually like Mike Evans better.

Evans would make a very good compliment to Gordon. Size and Speed.
I was pretty high on Bridgewater, and to a lesser extent Bortles, but my interest is cooling. Bridgewater's arm is a major concern that I expect to play out at the Combine. Bortles is rising some, but I think his ceiling is around Cutler... On one hand, a Cutler would actually be an improvement for the Browns. On the other, I'm not sure if that's somebody you want to pick up at #4 overall when you could probably get that from Hoyer, Cousins, or QBs in later rounds. The reports of BOB liking him make a lot of sense too, giving me the impression he'll be gone.
I can't help thinking Manziel is just going to get chewed up and spit out by the NFL. He's small, he takes risks that'll get him punished and result in more turnovers, and he's already a diva -- he'll get millions the moment he's drafted and has nothing to play for, especially in a place like Cleveland.

I like the move on the Browns Facebook page - asking fans who they'd like to see with our #1 pick. Overwhelming majority say Watkins. Maybe our fanbase isn't quite as dumb as I had previously believed?

Maybe (hopefully) they aren't buying the stupid hype around Bortles (a 3rd rounder before the pass-happy NFL era), Johnny FUBAR (undrafted without ESPiN hype and Heisman trophy) and Bridgewater (probably a 1st rounder any era, but needs a good supporting cast)....

the mediots are falling all over themselves to predict the next Luck/RGIII draft or the next 1984 QB class. And they'll also be the first ones to criticize the front offices as buying the hype/over-rating players if they don't pan out.

I wouldn't give the fanbase that much credit. They probably think Hoyer is an elite QB. If I could get Bridgewater at 4 I'd be very happy otherwise I'd rather wait till later.

Just take Watkins, a CB with the Colts pick, Hyde in the Second, a developmental guy later, Sign Vick, Keep Hoyer and jettison those other 2 idiots and call it a draft. Try it again next year.
