Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

Am I the only person learly of Benjamin? I just don't see what other routes in the tree he would execute other than the fade and slant. Id like a more complete receiver. Abraderris in the 3rd. That Jordan kid from Vanderbilt, Evans or Watkins. Just not Benjamin.

Look at this highlight film, plenty of intermediate ability and deadly in the redzone. Has a fairly high ceiling but plenty of production to take a flyer on. Then again, you might be able to get him early 2nd.

There are a ton of receivers I would be happy to have in this draft and I think we end up taking two. And if anyone wants to check out a full seven round mock by people that have pretty solid sources and information is walterfooball.com

I guess I would not mind it but I just do not see it happening. I can see Johnny going in the first round but I do not see Carlos Hyde going at #26. Nothing against Carlos but I think they could get him in the second round or with the first pick in the third. I do not know maybe not. Jordan Matthews in the second round is nice and Mewhort and Christine Jones in the third would be nice. Do not know that much about Ricardo Allen from Purdue but I also do not see them taking Kevin Norwood in the fourth. I do not know what value Norwood would bring with the guys that we have already added.

Saying what I have said, I will state right now that I will be fine with anyway the Browns go because I believe in Farmer. However, I will like to see them take Johnny Football but if they do not I will live with that.

If (big IF) we take Manziel at #4. I'll be back on here shortly. However, I will undoubtedly be very, very drunk. So I find it best to apologize now, that should the Browns be dumb enough to take Johnny jackass - I will most likely be cursing the names of several posters in my drunken rage. I will accept my two week vacation (ban) with no objections. Please remember, my comments are not meant to be taken personally, as I'm sure you're all fine people. I will be distraught and I cannot guarantee how I'll react.

Govern yourselves accordingly..?

Dude! THIS!!! Two years ago when they traded up to get Richardson, used their second 1st rounder on Weeden, and followed up to get Schwartz at # 37, I was speaking in language unknown to man. I was pissed beyond belief and I wanted Mike's head on a platter. Last year, I just shrugged it off because it was so ho-hum and it was the Browns being the Browns.

This year these guys can really improve if they just make the smart pick and take the best guy that fits the team. Here is hoping they just don't do something stupid (like take Johnny Football at #4; if he is at 26 then I would take him.)

Interesting comparison. In that draft... the local media was in love with that draft. Loved Richardson and Weeden and it seemed like I was one of the few that HATED it. While I rooted for them to succeed... I did feel vindicated that I was right, but I wish I was wrong.

Again... this year the local media LOVE Manziel and the idea of getting him. Of course they do, they are blinded by the excitement factor and knowing they have something to talk about. And if the Browns draft him at #4... I really hope I am not right and he will bring the Browns back to glory, but I have a feeling it won't be long til I will be proven right... freaking Browns!!!

And I will say the same thing I said back during the Richardson/Weeden draft. IF they take a QB at #26, it better not prevent them taking a QB really high in the next draft if it warrants it. (ie whoever they draft doesn't show flashes that he will be the long term answer and if we draft high enough)

I'll admit I was smitten with Richardson. That high a pick? Not exactly - but I was willing to live with it because he appeared to have a very unique skill set coming out of Bama. That catch and run against Cincy his rookie year for a TD was a thing of beauty - he's consistently capable of that. If that was the running back he was on an every game basis then you wouldn't hear a peep about wasting a pick. Sadly, it didn't work out that way. As for Weeden, I vividly remember my posting just before and just after the announcing.

Before: " better fucking not be Weeden".

After: "Fuck".

Nobody here was on board with that pick aside from Holmgren.
Media consensus be damned, I don't want a QB smaller than Colt McCoy who is still learning to throw from the pocket at #4 overall. Top 10 picks are expected to contribute immediately on teams with holes to fill. Manziel simply would not. It's a terrible potential pick. I'm with Piney where I'd love to see these fuckers draft him so they can eat crow. On the flip side I realize if they don't and actually draft a player that ends up at least being decent, then that's another step closer to being a respectable team.

I'm trying like hell to be positive about this draft. From what I have read, both the GM and HC seem like they have the football intelligence to make the right pick. It so happens I'm a bit jaded because what mangement has done in the past, Plus some of the suff I have read about Jimmy and his feelings about who he would liked see chosen.

Which reminds me, heard (on ESPN this morning about possible trades) that Dallas MIGHT be interested in Johnny Football. If he is sitting at #4 (I heard the offer would the their 1st (16) nd 2nd (47) this year and their 1st next year. Would you take that trade?

Yes, this drafted is loaded and we still have a decent number of holes to fill, plus that would be a super big help on adding some quality depth. Then you can give Hoyer one more year, take a QB a little later in the draft, and if he doesn't work out you have enough ammo to move up next year to take one of those QB's.
