Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

I am praying to Jobu that we take either Johnny Football or Watkins (I could settle for Mack I guess) at 4 and if we take JF then a WR or CB at 26 and definitely not an OT at 26.

If we decide to pass on QBs bc we took Young and Thigpen in some attempt to wait til next year I am going to shoot myself.

They had to start somewhere at QB since they cleaned house a few weeks back. Not too thrilled about their choices...LOL. I think their move still has got be a QB with their 1st or 2nd pick. I'm hoping for the latter so they get Watson with the 4th overall, pass on Johnny and get one of the other QB's at 26. Johnny was able to get away with a lot of improv at A&M, not going to work in the NFL. The negative plays trying to keep plays alive, the forced throws and throwing across the grain, those are pick 6's in the league. I hope they pass on him. Whatever QB they bring in, either Thigpen or Young is most likely going to play until the new guy gets up to speed. Smells like a disaster and another 5-11 type season for our Brownies.

That must be fantastic weed if you think Young is going to beat out Hoyer as a starter.

Young and Thigpen are camp fodder/practice squad signings.

Yeah but we are the Browns, wouldn't put it past us to do something dumb like wait til really late in the draft to take a QB. We are the franchise who took Weeden out of the retirement home in the first round no less.

It wasn't 'we', it was Mike Holmgren. They will likely take a late-round QB, but they are going to take one in the 1st 3 rounds as well.

Hoyer is the starter. The rookie will be the backup and there will be a veteran backup as well. I doubt that'll be either Thigpen or Vince Young. You're making a mountain out of a molehill.

I think any of those picks would be solid, though I have already stated my argument for why I would lean Manziel. I still think you get Manziel, then Kelvin Benjamin at 26 (highly underrated imo and would pair nicely with Gordon as a tall, athletic threat) and address OL with Sua' Filo in the 2nd.

I certainly get the argument for Mack though...imo he is the safest player in the draft, I think he will be fantastic at the next level. Personally, I would prefer him to Clowney if my team were in the top 5 picks.

Unlike most, I like Johnny also and if Benjamin is available at #26 I would grab him also. If not, I might grab Sua' Filo because I do not know how long he will last. If the Browns taken a OL at #26 I would either go CB or WR in the second round. I may try and trade up from the third round into the second round and pick up a pretty good WR then if I did not get one with my early second round.pick.

My position regarding Mack is that I just do not think he is a position of need for the Browns. I know that both he and Clowney are pretty safe picks but so are both Matthews and Robinson and they are more of a need for the Browns IMO

It's not a mountain out of a molehill, it's the years and years of failure that always make me cautiously optimistic bc as a Browns fan you have to be. The last super exciting first round we had after that great trade, we stupidly traded up for Trent Richardson who was a bust (fortunately we lucked out thanks to Indy) and we drafted old man rivers.

I'm sure the QB depth will be different, but we do have new coach who is very familiar with Thigpen and Young so you never know.

 You should stop drinking when you post, you said you're cautiously optimistic about the Browns during the off-season.

My favorite WR in this draft a after Watkins and Evans is Beckham. Benjamin scares me because he seems like a tweener. Name the last WR that size other than Megatron that panned out...
Evans scares me, the talent is there but I don't know about his decision making. The dude signed with No Limit for his agents...makes be very concerned
