Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

Cleveland Browns host DL Alex Carrington and OG Paul McQuistan for free agent visits

I want both of these guys but if I cannot have both I want the OG because he can play multiple positions and plays them well.

play them well is debatable. he graded out terribly on PFF, and Seattle is fine to let him walk and draft a guard in the 1st round. when I say terribly, I mean oneil cousins and shaun lauvao graded out higher. As a depth signing, or emergency starter, he's ok. expecting anything more would be a mistake. but, since it appears a minor OL overhaul is on the horizon, he's a decent enough stopgap given what's out on the market.

it seems that the browns are zeroing in on brandon thomas from clemson as an early pick guard target since they had some sort of private workout with him. considering he's pretty much a top 50 lock, they will likely have to take him at #35.

You have to find a trading partner which is not always easy to do. The teams that need QB's have higher draft picks than the Browns.

I don't think there is a trade down for Bortles. If they want him it's 50/50 that he's there at 4. If they drop down to 9 100% chance he's gone. He's probably the one I'd be least upset with them drafting at 4 at this point, but I don't really think any of them are worth that pick. I really hope they see big things in one of the 3rd or later round QB's because that seems to be how you build a true winning team. When was the last time a top 10 drafted QB not named Manning won the Super Bowl?

Well ROFLberger was 11, and I'd have been happy to make him top 10. But your point is valid, regardless.

I agree, but he would be out of the league with no rings if he played for the Browns. The main thing that I like about Bortles is he seems a lot like Big Ben minus the rapeyness.

I'm not sure that's true, I mean, you have him there by '08ish instead of Anderson, gives you stability and direction, its the catch 22. And who knows what Bortles is rapying. Honestly, I kind of like Carr at 26 in some ways. (there's a lot of reasons I don't, too... main among them is this, if you see a guy you really, really, like, take him wherever)

But there has to be someone who needs OT and DE too.. no way does Clowney, Mathews and Robinson fall to 4..
so I'm guessing 1 QB in first 3, two at best.. and if so, somebody (Oakland 7 Tampa Bay) needs OT & DE
altho they both need QBs too.. so you make the deal contingent upon who they WON'T take

If I read between the lines.. seems that folks are worried that Bortles will become the Pick-6 king in the NFL.. he's not considered accurate and that's the trait most folks DON'T get better at.. if you're not accurate in 75 degree sunshine.. you ain't gonna be accurate in 25 mph wind and temps in the 20s with LBs faster than the WRs you had in college
