Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

I don't understand the need overpaying for a CB when we clearly already have a #1CB. Ultimately I wouldn't complain, I just feel the massive cap room we have can be used elsewhere.

as long as the browns aren't tied to paying a franchise qb $14+ million, they have the cap room to do things like this. people forget that haden is still under the old rookie slotting system, so, even if he gets a 50% pay increase, he's still only going to be costing cleveland an extra $4 million or so more than he is now.

Also keep in mind that Revis' contract contains zero guaranteed money. Trading for him would be like having him on a perpetual one year deal. Cut him loose when he no longer serves a purpose.
in addition to him, I do not mind the Browns signing guys that might be in the twilight of their careers. #1 they can make the Browns somewhat more competitive this season and more importantly #2 they could help the young guys on the team learn and get that much better while they build the team

Revis only has to be a CB2 right now...if he is healthy, I guarantee he is better than any other CB2 out there right now. Of course, he won't take CB2 money, but if it is not guaranteed, then there is a lot less risk.

a few things:

Kent Somers ‏ @ kentsomers5m don't know if this has been out there since twitter broke. hearing Dansby to Browns, 4yrs/$24m. $10m year 1, $14m guaranteed.

If true, good deal for both sides. dansby gets paid about as much as arizona offered

secondly, it's been reported that no team will trade for revis unless he restructures his deal, which he's refused to do. so, tampa is going to cut him tomorrow unless he changes his mind. it would be foolish for him to do so as he'll make far less on the open market a day after free agency started, especially if a team like cleveland is willing to give him a large portion of guaranteed money this season in exchange for something more team friendly in say years 3 and 4.

Leadership and toughness of D. Jackson but a much better 3-4 backer than what Jackson is.

Dansby and Moats would bring some great play to this young linebacking corps. The nice thing about bringing in the vets hungry to prove themselves
is that the younger players get that added motivation to be better. Looking at you, Mingo.
