Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

the bigger news is that the ravens are about to pony up for eugene monroe to the tune of close to $10 million per, which effectively takes them out of the alex mack proceedings, as they were one of the teams rumored to be driving up his price. the raiders were the other, who basically have taken themselves out of it. so now it's all about how crazy tampa bay wants to get.

What's the cap situation like in Tampa? I know they just picked up Michael Johnson.

Former Browns G Shawn Lauvao reached agreement on a 4-yr, $17M deal with the Washington Redskins, per sources.

This is why the Redskins will never be any good as long as Dan Snyder is running them. Shawn Lauvao. :slappy:

Getting Dansby is a big upgrade. DQ was solid, Dansby is borderline elite, and should still have a couple good seasons left in the tank. Plus, zero dropoff in leadership.

I don't see Whitner as much of an upgrade, if any at all, over Ward. But the hometown angle could help. He's a good player, capable of highlight-reel hits. But he's also prone to some very frustrating mistakes...as was discussed a few pages back. But nice to see a Buckeye and hometown guy want to come home.

I see a lot of pundits talking about Eric Decker to the clowns. He might be a solid number two, but if he wants #1 money, I'd hope they're not dumb enough to give it to him. Peyton Manning has made a career of making pedestrian WRs Pro-Bowlers.

Welcome home, Hitner.

7 mill doesn't seem too bad for Whitner when guys like Bethea are getting 6.5 per now....it's funny the 49ers said they didn't want to go over 4 for Whitner, which is ludicrous. In a world where Lauvao is getting 4.25 per and Saffold, a previously thought of bust before his move to guard is getting 8.5....I'll gladly spend 7 on Whitner.
