Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

And watch them blow everything they've built in the first 3 weeks by listening to Fanboi Chuck Booms and the national media and anointing Johnny Douchebag the QB coming out of the bye. Sure will be easier to beat these teams when they have 4 turnovers per game instead of 0-1 :shake:

Didn't Hoyer have a QB rating of 120+? How in the world do they possible think Manziel is going to help? Unless their idea is to simply outscore people every single game?

The defense is the primary concern right now. They did well on 3rd down stops, but the early down struggles against the run are going to doom you in the AFC North.

The 1st was on Cundiff, but he has missed 75% of his kicks beyond 50 yards.

The 2nd was on the end man on the LOS, he needs to get more of a chip on the guy flying around the end.

Not going to blame Cundiff for the miss. That kick is maybe 50/50 for any kicker and it isn't like he shanked it. Better spend extra practice time on FG protection this week.

The only place I would be interested in seeing Manziel get more time would be when they have a lead in the 4th quarter and need to run out the clock. Hoyer is at his best when they need to score points.

I went back and looked (I DVR'd it because I worked mids Sunday morning) - the snap on the first one wasn't exactly clean and the holder did a good job getting it down. I think Cundiff might've hitched a bit in his approach...still, you're right, it's a 50/50 at best proposition from that area of the field.

I'll say this, the schedule before Cincy couldn't set this team up any better.

Bye week to get your [Mark May] straight. Tenn, Stillers @home, Jags, Raiders & Bucs. All of those games are winnable. That interior Dline needs to get fixed, fast.

Yeah, I mean that's it... well, the run D in general. But you're right, especially between the tackles... (heck Rubin made a couple tackles where the ran outside yesterday) That would make things a lot easier.

It needs to start there. Its not as though the secondary is playing lights out by any means but they have been playing some "name" QB's here in the first 3 games to say the least... we can't let the likes of Blake Bortles, Jake Locker, Derek Carr and Mike Glennon off the hook by letting them hand the ball off. In that stretch you have listed, I think the Browns will win 3 and at least one will be a blow out. (or by more than 10, which is blow out in Browns-land) and I think they could win 4.

Hoyer is playing well enough to win. They're getting a little bit of Identity established on offense, though its not to the point of having bread and butter go-to's in tough situations, but Hoyer is building some rapport with some guys, especially Hawkins, and that's saying something since Jordan Cameron is a non-factor and Gordon is out for 7 more weeks.

I do not know if it is so much the dlline or the ILB's or maybe even this scheme that is being run. I do not know how many times yesterday the Brown said more than 4 DB's in the game which puts quite a burden on the guys up front and if the LB's do not fill the gaps that leads to major problems. I do not understand why the Bills defense was so good last year and we are not playing well at all and I think our players are just as good as last year's Buffalo guys. Gilbert needs to get better and fast.

To me it's both scheme and talent. The Bills have some weapons up front. Dareus, Williams, Mario, Hughes. They have players that fit their system.

This Browns team has players in the front 7 that half fit what Pettine wants. Both Kruger and Sheard have issues rushing the passer when standing up. Mingo is too small to consistently hold the edge at a stand up 9tech. The interior Dline doesn't look good playing 0tech over the center and guards and doesn't flow well laterally which is why you're seeing the stretch plays and off tackle runs from the opposition work so well.

Keep in mind, while Buffalo's defense was good against the pass. They were rather horrid against the run. There is a trend emerging here that follows a similar pattern. Now I believe that Rubin has taken a big step back. But I honestly do believe our Dlineman are seriously out of place with the alignments Jim O Neil likes to use. And the results support my argument.

I was gonna say, the Bills got gashed against the run... especially early. At any rate they're gonna have to figure something out, I realize you just can't "re-scheme" but you also can't just accept just getting kentucky snowplowed like this either.
