i read somewhere that Banner said the Bryant and Kruger signings would be the biggest splashes the browns would be making in FA

I heard Banner say it in a press conference. And it is the truth. Even if the Browns were to sign Davis and Talib, those would not be bigger splashes than Bryant and Kruger. At best, the same splash but not bigger.

Now I do not think the Browns will sign both Davis and Talib. If only one could be had between Davis and Talib, I hope it is Talib. And I would still draft Milliner at #6, if he were there, even if Talib were signed.

If we do sign a CB and a TE, what about trading down to draft Tavon Austin, who I believe will be an elite slot receiver in the league...Just a thought, I believe its almost too perfect for him to go to Minny to replace Harvin..

If they trade down and draft another WR, I'll be pissed.

They have one good WR and one who could potentially be very good, but several holes elsewhere....

If they trade down I want Warmack

Depend on what we get in return.

Warmack becomes an option in that case. I still don't see a trade
Happening though.

I think most of us are hoping for Milliner at #6, but if he's gone I would try to trade down. There is no sure thing at #6 if Milliner is off the board so I'd rather trade down to the teens and take Warmack or one of the OLB's that will still be available if he's already gone.

Be nice if the Bills wanted Geno Smith enough to give up a 3rd round pick to move up.

I think it's pretty realistic that we could trade down; if Geno is still around I think it's a no brainer as with AZ and Buffalo at 7 and 8 behind us teams will likely be lining up to move up to #6 and ahead of them both.

But if Milliner is still available I don't think it's worth it, we desperately need another CB and the gap between him and the next bunch, including Xavier Rhodes, is pretty decent IMO.

As good as a job as they have done in Free Agency, I wouldn't be mad if they slid down quite a bit, took the best CB available (Jonathon Banks//Xavier Rhodes) and hopefully pick up a second rounder for a starting safety unless they address that with Kerry Rhodes.

If Milliner is there at 6, I'm not sure how you pass that up though.

Kerry Rhodes is gone I'm pretty sure....?

No way Xavier plays CB in the NFL.

The only team in the way of Milliner at this point is Philly. Detroit has lost so much on their Dline and resigned Huston - Werner or Ansah just make so much sense. But... its Detroit.

Philly has 3 options really - Geno, Milliner or OLB (Jones, Jordan) With how much focus they just put into defense in FA (Conner Barwin as well now) and given Chip Kelly's boner for offensive minded teams, Geno becomes a very real pick here.

I"m also not sure exactly what they plan on doing defensively, speaking schematically of course. But Barwin isn't playing a 4-3 WILL, that's for certain. Plus LB has been an area of concern for them the last couple years. Jordan is a great athlete and cover man, not an NFL pass rusher.
I just see him or Geno being the likely pick. The more I think about it the more I'm actually liking the Browns chances of landing the player we want (Jones or Milliner) In this case, Milliner. Which, given recent history, I usually don't think happens. See: Eric Berry and Patrick Peterson.

Even if we do get a shot at Milliner and take him in the draft we still need some more defensive backs. Here are those who are still free agents:
Still available are Brent Grimes (Falcons), Nnamdi Asomugha (Eagles), Antoine Cason (Chargers) and Aqib Talib (Patriots). ... One defensive back to keep an eye on is former All-Pro free safety Kerry Rhodes, 30, who played for Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton in Arizona.

I also think the Browns need to make a hard run at Davis because we need a veteran receiving TE. I know that we have Cameron but he is really an unknown. If we don't get one in free agency, we are going to have to draft at least one if not two tight ends because of the way Turner runs his offense.

Also don't understand why they have not made a run at Schwartz to play offensive guard. I don't know maybe they are waiting on something.

Noooo!
The Boston Herald reported that the Cleveland Browns and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have expressed interested in New England Patriots backup quarterback Ryan Mallett. The newspaper’s source said that a deal seems unlikely at this point, in part because the union agreement doesn’t allow players to restructure their contracts until after their third season if they were drafted in 2011 or later. Mallett would be under a team’s control through 2014 for affordable money, but an acquiring team would prefer some long-term security if it has to invest in a potential starter.Mallett, who played at Michigan and Arkansas, was drafted with a third-round pick, so New England would likely want at least that much in return.

Grimes depending on cost. Nnamdi would have to play FS or nickel at best and probably not worth the $$. Cason I just flat out don't like his game. Aqib would probably also cost a pretty penny and there's always the off-field issues he has the ability to find himself in. Rhodes could come in and play FS for a year or so until we either draft one or Kent Richardson grows into the role.

Disagree on Phili's options - OT has to be at the very top considering they have virtually nothing even on the roster at this point and haven't attempted to sign a tackle. With Fisher, Joeckel, and Johnson I can't see them continuing to ignore it unless they want Vick to become a human pinanta, although I guess he already was last year....

I repeat....Phili is not going defensive with their first rounder

I'd almost be willing to put money on that if it wasn't for Geno Smith.
They might be able to get away with their under-achieving line if they have
Vick running the read on occasion to supplement the run game. Unblocked defender becomes the QB's responsibility on the read.

That said. You are right. Tackle is a another big possibility.

Like I said. Our chances for Milliner have never been better.
