Cleveland Browns (2013 Season)

Last night on the Browns Red Zone,, Tony Grossi was asked why Mike was not at the press conference yesterday and Tony said that the Browns keep Mike in the background because he has a "lightning rod for the media". I am not quite sure how to take that:lol: but hopefully whoever they hire will demand a little control over player personnel.

I'm not a Browns fan so I'm not in the trenches but I'd ok with McDaniels personally. I'd hire an offensive guy if I ran an NFL team. McDaniels is a sharp offensive mind. I wouldn't let an underwhelming 28 game stretch in a previous job rule a young guy out. You would assume a smart guy would learn from his mistakes and be a better coach the 2nd time around. If he hadn't taken that job before he was probably ready he'd be a home run hire this year.

The guy spent a first round pick on Tim Tebow.

Fortunately McDaniels did take that previous job, so the Browns got a preview of what a failure he would be.

And traded Cutler for Kyle Orton, and still talks about Orton like he is the 2nd Unitas. His taste in QBs is about as bad as possible, so he is a perfect fit here.

Cleveland Browns: According to CBS sports reporter Jason La Canfora, the Browns want to interview Gus Malzahn and James Franklin and are expected to hire Jim Schwartz as defensive coordinator. I'll guess the chance of Gus interviewing is 0%

Uhm what happened to the coach getting to pick his own staff?
