Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Not really hell bent, but it makes sense with the value at #22. If you pick Richardson you better make sure you can use that cadilac by getting him some blockers. But on the flip side... who will be available at #22?

Ya want Kendall Wright or Stephen Hill at WR? They both seem like reaches to me.

RB... oh wait, they used #4 on one :smash:

CB? Maybe Gilmore or Kirkpatrick?

LB? Don't see many OLB in this draft going in the 1st round

DE? Mercilus?

No one really blows my doors off. But in that 17-25 range is perfect for alot of the offensive lineman that are said to be going.

So really it comes down to what is available. Maybe someone that is slated for the 8-16 area falls to 22, but really 22 is no mans land with the only people in that area are the O-Linemen...

and it's also in that range where you can get either one of the following:

a LT that is not an "elite" LT, like Jonathan Martin, that would project well to RT, and as an added bonus, should the unthinkable happen and Joe Thomas get hurt, he can move over. Or, you get likely the best pure RT prospect like a Cordy Glenn. It's the perfect spot to take a lineman given what is likely to be left on the board in terms of BPA.

In your scenario when do you plan taking a WR:huh: I don't think any burners with hands there are going to be at #37 or beyond.

So we eihter get a burner or someone with hands. It can't hurt vs. what we've got.

The last time the Browns played the Squealers, they kicked a field goal after 3 attempts from the one with a 240 pound running back in there. The best way to shut down the other teams offense, is to keep them on sidelines as you run the ball down the field for touchdowns. In other words I'm all for Martin at 22.

I know I'm an OSU fan, but I would love Posey in the 3rd round. He can at least stretch the field with his speed. All the Browns current WRs, are 4.5-4.7 guys. The other team's defense doesn't have to defend more than 20 yards past the line of scrimmage.

why are a lot of people hell bent on getting a RT in the first round....

For me it depends on if they take Richardson...a power RB with half the line being a pile of suck is bad news. If they take a WR or DB with #4, it isn't as much of a priority.

Yet another mock draft.. from Peter King

#4 - Trent Richardson
#22 - Jonathan Martin
and
#27 - (trade with the Patriots - they get 2nd & 3rd round picks this year according to King) Brandon Weeden

not sure how i feel about this.... the more i look at it the more I want Claiborne @ #4 and let the chips fall where they may on offense this year.

Peter King is smart, but the Browns are not going to trade back into round #1 for a third pick, not with this regime. Richardson and Martin would be fine with me, but they will not and should not trade up for Weeden at 27.

I'm torn. I love Richardson. But as some have said a RB that high worries me. Low shelf life and good talent to be had in later rounds. Wouldn't mind seeing Claiborne. Then address the online. But this team was rough at stopping the run. The front 7 still gives me pause. Floyd is so damn tempting too. We need legit WR's. I say Claiborne. Then Floyd. Find RT and Guard in the 2nd. Then that Wilson kid at RB. Hardesty never needs to see touches again. But that obannaya- I want to see him with a few reps on a remotely decent online. I think he could be very solid in rotation.

Remember, the mediots are paid to say the Browns or Team X needs a QB. That's what drives their readership.

At least King and his humongoid head is off of the Browns to take Tannehill bandwagon, not that he was fully on it, it was the other retard Banks.

IMHO, even if they take Claiborn, at some point, they have to bite the bullet, and address the o-line. If you went back maybe four years ago, all they needed was a right tackle. They had Thomas, a healthy Steinbach, Mack was a rookie, a still formidable Floyd Womack, and (drum roll please), John St. Clair. They also had a couple of decent back ups in Rex Hadnot and somebody else.

I recall early in that season, the Browns played Denver. Elvis Drummerville ran past St Clair for 5 (five) sacks. The best thing that happened to the Browns that year, was St Clair got hurt and Womack filled in at RT. The Browns won their last 4 games, and Harrison put up Jim Brown type numbers.

Now all the Browns can count on is Thomas and Mack. I've always wondered how McCoy would have done with a running game in place and not good, but excellent pass protection? Last year's draft was so deep in O-line, the Browns could have gotten some decent people in the third and forth rounds. Even drafting Andrew Luck, and Justin Blackmon would do the Browns little good with their existing line.

This just in, if they draft Tannehill anywhere before the 4th round, I quit.

This.

But seriously they need to put som weapons around Colt. It would be fantastic if we could take a WR with the second pick in addition to Richardson who I think they're strongly leaning towards. Not sure that's the route I'd go but thats why they get paid to do what they do. I' just like to see some help on O so I can actually have something to watch come the start of the 3rd quarter. I got the same feeling watching the browns O last year as I do watching girls high school basket ball. Minimal scoring, terrible ball control, and no offensive flow. Theirs gaping holes in our roster but yet the talking heads wanna try to sat we're actually considering reaching on a project QB. I just don't see it happening, but if I do, I'm out.

want me to say something that will totally blow everyone's mind? i don't think cleveland is going to take a wr in the 1st, or the 2nd. when they take one in the 3rd, it will be a guy that projects to be a great slot guy like broyles, or chris givens. then, they will take a project or flyer guy later on like a greg childs or posey.

i really think cleveland is going to address RT, and RB early. I think they take Claiborne as well. Even if they take Ricahrdson at #4 and a RT at #22, I think they may take Lavonte David at #37, as this is a terrible LB draft for immediate starters, and he's one of the few that can start ASAP.
