Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

...and to be clear, I am in no way putting down RG3. He looks like an exceptional player. But, that trade was still crazy, and I'm glad the clowns didn't go full retard.

Again, this. I love RGIII, hell of a fun guy to watch play the game, and he can will some victories in close games. And if we were sitting on that second pick, I would have been elated to get him. But mortgaging the next 4-6 years of the franchise to get one guy...terrible move for this franchise.

But the Browns also had more to offer, they had two firsts this year to bargain with and the Skins did not. Last I heard if the Browns had offered both firsts this past draft, their second rounder and the following year's #1 they could have gotten RG3. I make that deal.

And then what? How would we have improved this team at all after that?

Agree to disagree.

If they make the trade, they're still stuck with a dumpster fire at RB, mess of an OL, no receivers, and all the other holes with significantly less draft picks to fill them. Then they have to hope that they can land some key FAs...and that probably means getting into bidding wars and overpaying.

Besides, RG3 only has a handful of games under his belt. Newton is a solid example of how things can start out great and fizzle. Plus, do you really want RG3's reckless style of play in an organization with this kind of luck injury wise?

IMO if Haden hadn't served a 4 game suspension the Browns would probably be 3-3.

You might be right. I'll say this too, I like Weeden, I think he is going to be a solid QB and I like Richardson. We need reliable WR play, Phil Taylor healthy, and some better personnel on defense (LB, CB and Safety.) Then I think this team is on it's way to contending in the North.

Come on, we haven't had an outbreak of staph in years.

It boils down to if you believe RG3 is going to be a superstar or not. If you don't there is no point in debating this with you.

That's not really the debate, though. You mentioned winning SB's, but name a team that has done that on the back of one superstar. It takes a very good QB with an excellent supporting cast (RBs, WR, TE, OL) and a good defense to do that nowadays.

See NFBuck's post above. I absolutely believe he can be a superstar in this league...and the question still stands.

I never equated one conversation with the other. One was whether someone is truly deserving of the "winner" title if they have not won a Super Bowl and the other was the topic of how the Browns were handcuffed by Lerner going after FA's and possibly making the trade for RG3 because of the pending sale of the Browns.

And you might be 5-11 by RGIII's 4th year in the league....if you didn't kill your cap space trying to make up for a lack of blue-chip draft picks.

Time for Greco to step up
BEREA, Ohio - Browns offensive guard Jason Pinkston is in a local hospital with a blood clot and will not play Sunday in Indianapolis.
Pinkston, in his second season as the starting left guard, had been limited in practice all week due to an undisclosed illness.

He started last Sunday against Cincinnati, but missed most of the game when he became ill, according to the Browns.
Pinkston definitely will not play against the Colts and his status for the future will be determined next week.

I was listening to a Browns talk show last night and Joe Haden was a guest. He said that Buster Skrine was "crazy fast" Eddie one of the strongest defensive backs on the team. How that translates into Buster being a good DB might be subject to interpretation:wink:

Better to have a guy that is crazy fast than a guy that runs like a DT. Hopefully you can coach up a guy that is fast to not be a turd. IMO having Haden on the field helps cover up the issues with the other DB's because it gives them the ability to roll the coverage away from Haden to protect the lesser DB's. If they could find another CB that is on a similar level to Haden it would make a huge difference for the whole D. That was why I wanted them to draft the CB from LSU if they missed out on Richardson.

Praying for Pinkston... this is serious... Football career is in severe jeopardy...

He's actually lucky.. of the three places a clot can go is: heart (you're done); brain (stroke) or lung... The fact he's in the hospital suggests he will pull thru it... but to continue to play and practice with it like he has.. for days/weeks... dang.. tough/stupid hombre and if he mentioned any of the symptoms to the med staff.. they should be shot

Depending on cause... if he damaged a vein and that vein is stopping the normal flow.. they could shut that vein down... and his career would continue...this would actually be his best case.. worst case, they put him on a regiment of blood thinners... and not sure how you play in the NFL on blood thinners... something as small as a scratch would bleed like crazy...

Kid still needs prayers.. he ain't thru the woods yet
