Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

I didn't have an issue with the Playcalling last night. The plays were there, it was the combination of WR not catching anything, relative inaccuracy of the QB (though many of the balls still should have been caught), and the offensive line looked they were pushed back immediately after the snap.

Richardson is a nice back and though Weeden is still not the long term solution, his progression from week 1 has been good. I still think we are in the market for a QB next year or at worst the following. The defense has played well so far this year, and they are without Haden right now. This season feels like a 1-10 or 2-9 start, finished with a 4-2 run after Shurmur gets fired and move from 1st in the draft to 4th or 5th.

brandon weeden is way down on the list of problems with this team.

Buckeneye's off-seasons wants...

Jarvis Jones
A capable LG
FA WR?

Healthy defense.

....to god's ears please.

i think you mean RG. Pinkston actually wasn't bad last night. lauvao was awful once again.

whether or not cleveland needs another corner will be determined when haden returns. but FS is definitely an obvious problem.

If cleveland can get a legit FA starter at RG, and one of CB or FS in the offseason, then they have done well. If they get a wr that isn't a retread at the end of the line, even better.

Need WR's. Need a coach. Need better playcalling.

Who are we gonna take with the #1 pick? I'm almost hoping we pull a RG3 type trade. Draft Marqis Lee, Tayvon Austin, Robert Woods, etc. Need WR's so badly.

If the Browns end up with the #1 pick I hope someone really wants Barkley and will pull and RG3 type of deal. Weeden isn't the future, but if they can stop him from making a few dumb throws a game he is at least average. The better they can protect him and find WR's that can catch the ball the better he will be. He at least has an arm that defenses have to worry about, which is more than I can say about any other Browns QB other than maybe Anderson in the recent past.

I think the defense is going to be pretty good if they can stay healthy and get Haden and Taylor back. I don't even know if OLB is a need anymore with the rookies they have there this season. CB and FS are the big holes that need to be filled to turn a good defense into a potentially great defense.

They must find a #1 WR next season. Hopefully they will be drafting in the right place to get one, but since they don't have a 2nd rounder they will need to weigh if they need a WR or CB more. I'm still holding out hope that Gordon will turn into at least a good #2 WR.

Sorry. Meant RG.

Sadly, looking forward into the draft - I can't see that 'stud' WR prospect coming out. Woods & Lee? Maybe Lee. Sammy Watkins is a sophmore. Justin Hunter might be someone to look at.

Best bet would be turning the defense from good to great, re-dedicating ourselves to running the ball with some tenacity and seeing what comes up in FA.

Eric Reid and Chance Warmack would look nice on this team. Takes care of two pressing needs (FS & OG)

But yes, I'm hoping Barkley has a great combine (which I"m sure he will) and that someone is dumb enough to want to move up to get him. Although realistically, I'm trying to picture which team might do that.

Was anyone else bidding for RG3 and didn't fill the need elsewhere? I'm not sure how many teams are willing to go full retard over a QB.

I'm not even saying full retard. While that would be just, gold...
It'd depend on how far we'd be moving down. Tons of scenario's could be played out in that case.
I'm sure somebody would be willing to give up their 1st, 2nd and perhaps 3rd rounders to move up for their franchise QB.

kansas city, the jets, probably tampa, and hard to tell if seattle is really going to roll with russel wilson. oakland may be in the market as palmer is getting old and isn't close to what he used to be. denver could be in the market to get peyton's successor and groom him, but they wouldn't trade up. and the dark horse team that may need to make a move is the bears.

with revis done for the year and sanchez stinking up the joint, if the jets flounder, they will almost certainly need to make a move from sanchez.

Seattle isn't going to give up on Wilson even though he's not going to really be a star I don't think.

KC isn't going to pick up a QB with the defensive issues they have at the moment.

Oakland actually looked competent offensively with Palmer against the Squeelers. I don't think they'll bail out quick - besides with basically no picks in this previous draft they are going to have needs there too.

Denver isn't going full retard to chase a #1 pick at QB and neither will the Bears.

This year was a perfect storm for idiot GMs to go crazy and trade up. The Redskins out-derped everyone. I don't think that's going to happen again.

The team I think everyone should look at is Philly - especially if Vick continues to suck and Nick Foles isn't anything special.

I agree, there will be no super-derp this year, and honestly I don't think anyone is going to end up being as in love with Barkeley as they were with Luck/RGIII. Someone may decide to trade up, but the package will be closer to along the lines of what we got for the Julio Jones pick, not what they got last year.

I was unable to watch the Browns game on TV last night to listen to it on the radio and Donovan did not do a very good job of explaining why the officials did not call a personal foul on the hit that put Cribbs out of the game. He said it was helmet to helmet and if that's the case there should have been a penalty.

Shurmur getting an unsportsmanlike is terrible for a coach. If he wants the players to control themselves, he needs to control himself. Saying that, I can never recall an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty being called on a head coach in an NFL game. I am sure that it must have been done but I have personally never seen one.

Re: Little. They will not get rid of him unless there is a total regime change. The same goes with Marecic and Hardesty. None of the guys in management want to admit that they made a mistake in the draft. I don't think Hardesty has carried the ball once since the regular season began at the guy from Stanford has not caught a pass since the season began. If they want to put a blocker in the backfield, put Cousins back there. They should start playing Gordon more in place of Little. At least he can get some experience that way.

I don't know how Shelton Brown played last night but it sounds like he didn't play very well again. I don't understand why they don't move him back to FS and let one of the younger guys, like Patterson, get some game experience when Joe returns.

To me the play on Cribbs didn't look like helmet-to-helmet. I think it was forearm to helmet, but it was a football play and not a target situation, at least that's how I saw it (as opposed to, say, everything James Harrison ever does). The guys on the NFLN were saying "he wasn't defenseless" which makes no sense either, because if it is H-to-H it doesn't matter.

As for Shurmer, it isn't even the first one he's gotten. It's happened several times, once for bumping an official on the sideline. He just continues to show how clueless he is at every turn.

Brown was fine until he had to cover someone for more than 8 yards. When they threw over the top of him it was target practice. Patterson did play a lot but he didn't play very well...I saw one cleveland.com poster refer to him as the "human male escort down the field" because he didn't really do anything to break anything up or slow anything down. Torrey SMith abused them in the first half, Boldin abused them in the second.
