I was unable to watch the Browns game on TV last night to listen to it on the radio and Donovan did not do a very good job of explaining why the officials did not call a personal foul on the hit that put Cribbs out of the game. He said it was helmet to helmet and if that's the case there should have been a penalty.

Shurmur getting an unsportsmanlike is terrible for a coach. If he wants the players to control themselves, he needs to control himself. Saying that, I can never recall an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty being called on a head coach in an NFL game. I am sure that it must have been done but I have personally never seen one.

Re: Little. They will not get rid of him unless there is a total regime change. The same goes with Marecic and Hardesty. None of the guys in management want to admit that they made a mistake in the draft. I don't think Hardesty has carried the ball once since the regular season began at the guy from Stanford has not caught a pass since the season began. If they want to put a blocker in the backfield, put Cousins back there. They should start playing Gordon more in place of Little. At least he can get some experience that way.

I don't know how Shelton Brown played last night but it sounds like he didn't play very well again. I don't understand why they don't move him back to FS and let one of the younger guys, like Patterson, get some game experience when Joe returns.

I've been lurking through these threads periodically since the draft and from what a few "experts" here on the board thought, I was put under the impression that management knew what they were doing based on the most recent strong draft the Browns had and how very well they have done in FA signings. Did I miss something?

For the record, these comments are not directed at you LitlBuck. Just borrowing a few cooments from your post.

However, I give credit where credit is due:

The Browns have been competitive like I thought they would be even though 4 wins WILL be a reach with this team.

Benjamin, Wynn and Robertson have been pleasant surprises (Wynn was a great get.

BW has been serviceable at QB but not an overly serious upgrade to Colt. Def. not worth the 1st round pick BUT I will add that Matt Barkley is not worth the number one pick next year now that I have watched him a bit closer.

Schwartz has been servicealbe at RT and I hope he gets better. However, both guard positions are still undermanned. Mack can't block all three interior line spots. Too many missed assignments on this line.

The WR position is very weak. I can't really add anything constructive to fix it. Yet they forfit their 2nd round pick next year to pick up Josh thinking he will be the answer. Just to many bone-head decisions by management that has not made this team better.

I hope the new owner gets it.

Schwartz is absolutely fucking garbage. Every time I watch him he's just getting abused the split second the ball is snapped. He can't pass block and he can't run block. He should be bagging groceries...

Yeah, I know he is a rookie and god I hope it clicks for him and he turns it around but as of right now he is most definitely NOT serviceable.

Not sure which board you were reading. Certainly wasnt
This one. Many of us were/are unhappy about the Weeden
Pick. We did nothing in FA market aside from Rucker. Then
Took hughes in the 3rd.

"Strong" isnt the way I'd put it. But BW did fare better
Against baltimore then Dalton did. With less talent too.
That is somewhat encouraging.

Winn has pretty excellent at DT so far for us, really excited to get big Phil Taylor back in the line up and get some spurts from Winn & Hughes....long future stacked up for us there.

The DL overall has been very good....Sheard has continued on his strong rookie campaign and somehow, someway, Rucker and Parker have combined to give us something off the edge.

Also, Robertson has been a huge surprise this year....that interception route he took, not too shabby. The DB's are rough to watch right now though, I don't see it mentioned as often as I'd like on here but that's a major priority to me. WR's and DB's by a mile.

I'll take them all

...Horace Gillam, Marion Motley, Galen 'Chic' Chiguadi, Bill Willis, Gene Hickerson, Chuck Nowell, Linn Houston, Lou Groza, Lenny Ford, Gene Gatski and at back up quarterback, in bed with a Newport hooker, George Ratterman. My God, what a team! Unlike the old AFL teams, when the Browns finally get a shot at the reining NFL champs in the first game of season they took 'em out and then went on to win the season championship.

Give this team a #1 WR and another nice player in the defensive backfield and I think the Browns are a decent team. I saw a lot from Weeden against Baltimore that I really liked. He wasn't afraid to take a hit, he made good decisions for the most part, and he made some nice moves in the pocket to avoid the rush. There is some young talent, but not enough high-end talent at the skill positions.

Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I don't think this team is that far away from being good. Not great, but certainly good enough to win more than they'll lose.

I am drunk and this post took too long that I want to admit to type. But still, I think the Browns are getting there. Slowly, but still.

there are definite signs of the browns fielding a real nfl team. for the first time in who knows how long, you can legitimately pinpoint areas of weakness instead of just stating that scrub X can hold the fort long enough while the browns put out a dumpster fire at a different position.
