Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Couple screens a game can go a long way towards keeping
Pressure off Weeden. Trent's success also helps take pressure
Off him.

As for the draft? Well this year was offense heavy. I believe 2013
Should focus on defensive playmakers & oline depth. Specifically
Our gaurd play is terrible. Quality gaurds can be found in middle
Rounds. However I want a pair of awesome CB's. If not improve
The pass rush. Sam Montgomery?

Im usually a doubter. But I do believe we've had a couple
Solid drafts. We have some young talent. Another draft
At the right positions. A FA Or two could. I think we could
Have a decent Team.

The two throws by Weeden that impressed me the most yesterday where the two that his arm got hit and he wasn't able to follow through, but still put the ball on the money. I hope he continues to improve when the DL's get better.

this coming offseason, if things go to plan, cleveland will actually have the luxury of identifying a handful of real needs, and addressing them, instead of simply taking what they consider BPA because they need help everywhere.

cleveland has a lot of cap coming off the books from guys that offer little or no production. fujita, brown and cribbs give more than $10 million in cap with no value on the field.

I don't know if I'd throw Cribbs in that group. He only makes 1 mil IIRC and still does a decent job as a ST player.

So you really think that they are going to let Cribbs go after this season:huh: He could be of value if he was used properly like perhaps as a slot receiver. I know you do not pay players the type of money that he is getting just to be a special teams player.

Much as I like Cribbs sometimes, I am in the middle on him. At 1 mil he isn't really overpaid, but his value has been greatly reduced because returns have been nullified on kickoffs and he just doesn't return punts very far much anymore. He plays on coverage teams, but he couldn't stop a PR for a TD last week. He is a receiver, but with Little, Gordon, and Mass, he clearly isn't going to see much time there. And we don't run the wildcat. And with Benjamin now, he won't run end arounds or reverses either. So he's more or less a take it or leave it kind of guy now.

But with the 3 guys they have now, all second round picks, he is clearly not in the plans there anymore. He could play in 4 or 5 wide sets I guess, but that's about it.

He's going to have to make faster decisions, because the Bengals were not putting any pressure on at all. It was like 3 quarters of glorified prevent. Since he can't move at all, he is going to have to stand in and deliver a precise ball with arms in his face. Time will tell if he can do that. The good news is he throws a decent slant (and it seems like his favorite throw) so if he can check out of some things and to a 6-10 yard slant, he could get some completions that way. We have some guys who can use their body to shield now.

his contract is up after this season. he's basically getting $1.5 million to be a shoddy return guy and special teams player, that's getting long in the tooth. he's going to be done in cleveland after this year.

I think the wildcat is starting to get a little old and you really don't see that many teams in the NFL running it especially for the amount of money that a player like Cribbs is getting.

Better than Tebow money for less production. :p
