[censored] them for putting Browns fans in this position. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks they are doing this JUST to [censored] with Browns fans.
I want clear, loud boos and curse words during the moment of silence.
[censored] Art Modell. Disease and/or death don't give you a free pass from being an asshole while you were alive.

Per twitter... this also includes Cleveland.
Yeah... this is going to end well

edit: Never saw the Ditka interview - I have a newfound respect for that man.

Talk here in Cleveland is that the Browns would take the latter approach and not have a moment of silence. What the appropriate gesture is, well the Browns haven't said what it is (although I am sure many fans have plenty of suggestions!).
If it were me, I would take the NFL's "suggestion" under advisement and then do nothing. The act of doing nothing would in and of itself be an appropriate gesture as the NFL did nothing when Modell moved the Browns. The NFL could have done more to prevent that, but opted not to as it wasn't in the best interest of the NFL. Not to sound too conspiratorial, but there is much more to the Browns move than what has been stated in this thread (all of which I believe to be true.) Go back to early 1990's. Browns leaving Cleveland is the same as the Bears leaving Chicago. No one could envision it happening. Browns are allowed to move and the main reason cited, the main reason the casual fan in Santa Fe, New Mexico heard, was they needed a new stadium and Cleveland wouldn't provide one. Look at the list of NFL stadiums in 2012 and you will see that 16 of them have been built since 1996. How many of those 16 were built because the Browns left Cleveland?
Finally, I am tired of anyone telling the people of Cleveland, the fans of the Browns also, how they should feel or act. Personally, I take no joy in Modell's death and would not boo during a moment of silence, [censored] or dance on his grave, etc. But that is me and I have no right to tell others how they should feel. And I really do not give a flying [censored] what the media, specifically national media, has to say about it or how they portray it. And that goes double for any holier-than-thou type fans of other NFL teams viewing this as another opportunity to take a jab at the passion of many Browns fans.
I hope the Browns have a short, tasteful, display on the scoreboard for about 10 seconds but do not call attention to it over the PA system. I hope that most at the game are unaware of it as that too would be an appropriate tribute.
