Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Heckert

I was wondering why he missed both the Senior Bowl and the Combine.

BEREA -- Browns President Mike Holmgren announced today that general manager Tom Heckert recently underwent heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic to repair blockage and is recovering well.

He said Heckert did not have a heart attack, but that he wasn't feeling well and went in for a checkup, which ultimately revealed the blockage. The surgery is believed to have been a bypass.

Holmgren said Heckert will be back in the office on Tuesday and will slowly return to an increased workload. He stressed that Heckert "will be an integral part'' of the draft process.

So I'm gonna throw something outta left field... now I don't think the Browns have anyone with the balls to pull this off... but here is my dream scenario for this draft outside of staying put and lucking into Luck or RG3..... if the Redskins trade up for the # 2 (see this mock draft to get an idea http://www.sbnation.com/2012-nfl-draft/2012/2/27/2815534/2012-nfl-mock-draft-combine-results?sct=hp_t13_a3), the vikings take a lineman like they should ... That leaves us at 4 with Blackmon available, from everything i've seen Rams need a WR.... At this point we should call the Rams say "give us #6 + 2nd rounder from the Redskins or we're drafting Blackmon" might work might not ... but worth a shot to try to pick up some more picks in this draft.

That would work out nicely for the Browns but there is no way I would do that if I were the Rams. I know I'm probably in the minority but I like Michael Floyd just as much as Blackmon.

On another note, I'm really hoping Mo Claiborne has a good workout today so as to increase the value of #4 and give the Browns a legit option in case RG3 bidding gets too expensive or there is not a suitable trade down option.

For RGIII's sake, I desperately hope that the Browns don't draft him. He is way too talented and too good of a guy to be sent to that black hole of professional sports. I'm hoping that either Washington or Miami picks him up and he stands some sort of chance.

No offense, Cleveland fans.

I don't think he stands much of a chance in either of those places, either. :p
