Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

if you want any idea of how out of control the media has made this, every scout and talking head at the combine has said that kalil is the best LT prospect since joe thomas. that's been a unanimous opinion. now today, there are tweets and such stating that the rams are telling folks they aren't that impressed by him. and this is on the heels of cleveland apparently stating that they aren't sure what they think about RG3 yet. it's getting jeremy lin like in its absurdity.

Oh, the hype scares the bejesus out of me, in general. I mean, the football decision makers shouldn't be impacted... but, they are... and well... Dan Snyder.

Generally I don't mind these things given fair value, but, bidding wars are another thing entirely. And, it's not as though the Rams or Redskins are even in our division, nevermind conference...

Of course, in 4 years when the skins bet us in the SB, I'll eat my words. (Yes, it's a joke)

The thing that has me kind of not worried about it yet, is there's a significant amout of QB musical chairs that needs to play out. Nevermind general Free Agency. Does anyone have a good feel of what's going to happen with Manning? (Not that it impacts this, I'm just curious)

I'd love to land Richardson if the RG3 thing doesn't work out, but he's a poor value at #4 considering it looks like he may very well fall out of the top-10. If they land him, I have to think it would be after trading down.
I would love to see a trade down to the 8-10 range to land him. We would also pick up another 1st or 2nd rounder.

I don't think anybody has any real idea. But, it likely will impact this. Manning and Flynn are floating out there...Washington's popped up in some Manning conversations. Everybody seems to think Flynn is Miami-bound. If those two end up there, it effectively kills the trade market and leaves the clowns as the only (known) suitor for that #2 pick. Who knows, maybe Cleveland still jumps in the Flynn sweepstakes if they think the price for RG3 will end up too steep. Intriguing off season around the league to say the least...

here's why the rams are trying so hard to pimp this deal. manning is getting waived and will sign and play elsewhere. so, there are essentially two FA qb's on the market that will dilute the pool of buyers. one of flynn or manning will end up in miami. the problem is the rams are dicked if washington signs the other. seattle at #12 is too far of a drop. the rams best case scenario is for seattle to sign flynn and miami to sign manning.

Well, see that's what I figured would happen, but all of the Sudden Snyder is RGIII crazy. (What's their cap look like by the way?)

Clearly if what tsteele is saying about Khalil/STL then, I think they are still concerned about this scenario playing out...

Hell, why don't we just sign Peyton, I mean, we acutally have a backup plan.... and we could get Reggie Wayne too. Draft Richardson and Mike Adams. What that heck?

Forgot about Seattle, but I can't see them gong after Manning, and I don't think they'd outbid Miami for Flynn. And, like you said, they don't have the chips, or batshit crazy ownership, to move up to #2.

Let's not overstate this. It's not as if all of the future Pro Bowlers will be off the board by the third or fourth pick.

no. but the differential between picking 4 and picking 6 in this draft is pretty large.

The 4th pick is a definite line, because you are guaranteed to get one of the QBs, the corner, or the tackle. I can see why Dan Snyder, given his, well, history, would want to sell the farm to move up from 6 more than I can see why we'd want to from 4.

Dan Snyder could help the franchise with his unusual management style!

How about this possible scenario?

Manning - Arizona
RG3 - Washington
Flynn - Miami
Kolb - Cleveland
Tannehill - Seattle

Not crazy about Kolb but Heckert did draft him and if he came cheaply then I'd be okay with them taking a shot. If it didn't work out then they could always make a run at Barkley or someone else next year.

Given what AZ payed for Kolb and his salary, I just can't imagine a scenario where that happens...on top of that, his injury history and performance last year in Arizona leads me to think he would be an absolute disaster in Cleveland, anyway.
