Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

The WCO they run doesn't go past 20 years beyond the LOS.

This is the essence of the question. Will this change this year... from reaction I'm guessing no one thinks so. Everyone is going with the ride Trent Richardson and play good defense strategy.

Regardless with all the new blood on offense. I am excited to see it play out.

I do not understand the FO's line of reasoning..at all. From FA to the 2012 draft and the supplemental. Why blow a 2nd round pick next year for an unproven WR? I would gladly indulge in crow if he is a success BUT I do not see this happening. They must see alot of things we don't. Add to the brutal schedule they have this year...I do not see this team winning more than 4 games (Buffalo, @ Indy, San Diego?, @ Oakland), and three of those are a stretch. If the Browns can only manage to win 1 - 4 games this upcoming season, I would be shocked if a few heads did not roll at seasons end.

H+H are all in, they know they need wins now not later. I think this is some reason for the pick. If we aren't sniffing the playoffs by 2013-2014 they are gone.

What is everyone else's expectations in the next 2-3 years with the moves they have made?

I wouldn't give up a 2nd round choice for a huge portion of players currently in the league, whom are already much better then an unproven wacky offense WR.

Since I originally posted the link about Gordon I am pleased with the pick. The guy has the speed and size that the Browns need at WR. He had pretty good stats while at Baylor and I have to believe that the Browns scouted him or got film on him since he did have a marijuana issue while I Baylor. We needed a big fast WR and I think Gordon might be the guy. Here's hoping.

IMO, this draft set them back 2 - 3 years unless the players they choose end up being alot better than most of us think. Richardson, Schwartz and Weeden should help but just too may unknowns with the rest of the group to include Gordon.

My mindset going into the off-season was to sign one very good FA at a position of need (S, OG, DE, OLB) and fill holes by selecting the best player available at a postion of need. We all agree the Browns had many holes to fill and could have filled many by just staying where they were.
I know I'm beating a dead horse but in hind-sight this is what I would have done with the first three picks.

1 (4) Richardson (I think the FO flinched based on the RGIII situation and took the bait and moved up to get Trent). IMO, Richardson would have been there regardless. IF not take Clairborne, CB.

1 (22) - DeCastro, OG. Arguably thebest OL in the draft next to Kalil.

2 (37) - Martin, OT. Right side of line set.

With a draft like that (1st three picks), a team is building its base. With the brutal schedule for the upcoming season and Colt at QB, this team would still do no better than 1- 4 wins which would put them in the top 3 picks in next years draft and in position to draft Barkley or Woods (WR). IMO, the only team that will challenge them for the worst record this year will be the Jags.

I'm holding out hope but I do not see this team doing well at all next year and the year beyond that. If I didn't know any better, it almost appears that the FO is setting this team up to fail.

It's weird, I'm actually not upset...or even laughing my ass off at this like I do most clowns moves. Do I think they may have reached a bit? Absolutely. I'd be happier if this was a 3-4th round pick, but fuck it. It's not a nearly 29 year old QB. They still need WR help big time, and this kid has a very high ceiling. Him and Little (if he fixes the dropsies) on the outside, Benjamin in the slot...MoMass, Norwood, and Cribbs for depth...that might not be too bad.

Face it, if they didn't make this pick, chances are they're going to spend a 2nd rounder at WR next year, anyway. I guess when your franchise has been a 13 year scat film, you have to take chances. Just hope he works out.

following your advice this team would have ended up with forrest gump at corner, a RG, and a RT that's shown to be soft and not the athlete he was portrayed to be, all with colt mccoy still under center. if there was ever a recipe for going 4-12 again the above is it. thankfully the browns front office knew better.
