Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

yep. decastro was so elite that he fell to the mid 20's and cinci bypassed him once only to then trade down and take a different guard just a few picks later. the decastro hyperbole is over the top here.

If anything, noting that the Bengals passed on him and took a different guard should only further solidify the belief that he will be an All-Pro.

I actually LIKE the WR pick - you read my comment you would see that I said they would have fucked this one up if they had kept the 2nd rounder into the next draft.

And I'm not going anywhere. If you don't like it, too goddamn bad. This team sucks, the draft sucked, the FA was nonexistent and I'm going to express my opinion about it.

I stopped reading your bitching, im sorry, i mean your "opinions" a long time ago....as soon as i see the sweet calvin and hobbes avatar, the text below it looks like this

That's funny, you continue to react to them....

You're fine with the status quo, that's ok. We get it. You LIKE 4-12 seasons perennially. Whatever works for you I guess.

Meanwhile, everyone else will hope for good seasons and blast the shit out of the Browns when they clearly are lacking, like they have been for 13 years now.

trent richardson wasn't going to be on the board at #4.

the browns drafted a RT in the 2nd round that you've apparently forgotten about.

Those that passed on DeCastro missed on an elite guard. Take into account very few guards are taken in the 1st round of any NFL draft. One article supporting what I state and a list of the last several drafts when OGs were taken:

2012 - 2 OGs - DeCastro (24); Zeitler (27)
2011 - 2 OGs - Pouncey (15); Watkins (23)
2010 - 2 OGs - Iupati (17); Pouncey (18)
2009 - 0 OGs - But two centers were selected Mack by the Browns and Wood by the Bills
2008 - 1 OG - Albert (15)

http://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/NFL-DRAFT-PREVIEW-OFFENSIVE-GUARDS-2575778.php

The order of presence when it comes to offesive linemen are normally LTs, RTs, and then interior linemen. We will see how this plays out during the season.

You are making an assumption that Richardson wasn't going to be there. The Brown's FO blinked and got bought to move up one f@#$ing spot. It's a moot point but IMO Trent would have been there at 4. NO doubt in mind . Think what you will amigo.

And no I did not forget about the RT from Cal they selected who was project to be available from the 3rd to 4th round depending on which mock you looked at. Is he better than Martin? We will see.

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid tsteele. You will not convince me otherwise. Again I hope I'm wrong but I do not see it right now and if I am I will be the first to admit it. Peace.

1. everyone knew tampa was trading up for richardson. that's why they traded down to #7 before they were even on the clock. it was obvious to anyone that doesn't feel the need to whine over losing a 4th round pick.

2. schwartz had a 2nd round grade on him. the atlanta falcons beat writer said point blank they were taking him in the 2nd. this is another whiff on your part.

3. so, decastro is a once in a decade prospect, yet 5 guards were drafted higher than he was in the last 4 drafts. good work.

4. it has nothing to do with kool aid and everything to do with basic common sense and the lack of a need to continually whine like a miserable fan about everything.

1. And you heard that straight from Tampa's management? They shared that bit of info with you? Yea right. Alot of hearsay but nothing concrete. Get with the program man. Show some proof that supports your arguments and I will give the kudos you feel you deserve.

2. Care to share who gave Schwartz the 2nd round grade(s)...besides Cleveland? Show facts and you MIGHT gain some leverage. Again that is coming from a "beat writer", not management or did the Falcons share that with you as well. Sounds like wiff on your part?

3. Quick question. What year was DeCastro drafted? 2012. Very good. The only reason I threw that information out there to show the comparsion of where GUARDS are drafted (Mid to late first round initially). Not talent wise. To be frank the only TWO that MAY have been drafted before DeCastro were the Pouncey Brothers IF they were drafted the same year and to further elaborate for you, one of the two was drafted as a CENTER and did pretty good for himself if I remember correctly minus the injury he sustained his rookie year.

4. Miserable fan? Me whine? Absolutely not. It's a game to me which I enjoy very much. However, I do like to have discussions about how teams choose to improve year to year with hopes of making the playoffs and eventually the Super Bowl. Unfortuately we cannot say that about the Browns. The simple points I will make are really elementary:

1. What has Cleveland done to improve via FA?

A. Very little unless you count the re-signings of Thomas and Jackson and that is just keeping our guys in town.

2. Has Cleveland made the right moves in the draft to become a winner?

A: Give credit where credit is due, they have made some nice picks: Haden, Mack, Taylor to name a few. However, on the other hand let's talk about Robiskie, Hardesty and MM.

3. Where has this team shown any vast improvement since they were awarded a new franchise, 9 - 7 in 2002; 10-6 in 2007 not withstanding?

A: For every step forward they take two steps backward.

The bottom line is simple: I would love to see the Browns, the city of Cleveland and their faithful fans win a Super Bowl in my life time. If ever a city deserved it, it's this one. The question arises will drafts like this years get it done. I just do not see it. Simply my thoughts on the matter. I really don't give a rat's ass rather you like it or not.

1. minnesota's gm said point blank they had offers for the 3 pick and tampa didn't even wait until the 3rd pick was in before trading down to #7. simple math. but it's funny that you'll simply use some self created speculation to fuel your bitch fest, and that is legitimate to you.

2. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=71693&draftyear=2012&genpos=OT

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/probe.php?genpos=OT&draftyear=2012&sortby=tsxpos&order=ASC

http://draftbreakdown.com/players/mitchell-schwartz

that took 20 seconds. all have him graded as a mid 2nd round pick. not a single one has him as a 3-4 rounder. total failure on your part.

3. so the best guard prospect in a decade didn't get picked until the late 1st, which included several teams that needed guards passing on him in the process, all while "lesser" prospects got picked substantially higher the 4 years before. good hyperbole, poor argument.

4. you did nothing but complain in this thread, and the arguments surrounding your complaints were flat out wrong. it was bitching for the sake of bitching.

as to the follow up questions:

1. of course re-signing your own guys so they don't reach free agency doesn't count in your eyes. it would deflate the rant. but using that logic, if cleveland let jackson walk and signed a lesser lb to a big contract, you could claim they made a move in FA. that dog doesn't hunt.

2. 2 of the 3 guys you just listed weren't drafted by this front office and the other one has been on the team 2 years, one of which was recovering from injury. poor argument again.

3. the sins of previous front offices obviously means this front office is failing because they picked guys you didn't like. can't argue with that sort of brilliance I guess.

Um, so yeah, the WR might turn out to be Andre PacMan JonesRisonEdwards, but...I like the fact they took the chance? :paranoid:

[yoyo] quit yer bitchin, the status quo is the awesome!![/yoyo]

It was either take a chance on this WR or draft another backup right guard in the 2nd round like we all know they would if they'd actually thought about it

Failed at your own argument with Schwartz and I will give it a rest. ONLY ONE OF YOUR LINKS (Cooney's for two of the three; great to see you found somehting that supported your argument), PROJECT 2ND ROUND. PERIOD. The other two gave projections of HIGH 2-3 and LOW of 3-4. SO a happy medium of 3rd can be argued. Your other points are not worth the space so carry on, chief!

I will say this and let it go. Your arguments have some substance but are not valid at the end of the day. I will revisit this thread at the end of the season and we shall see that I'm spot on with my views. Richardson, Weedan and yes Schwartz will contribute but will not take this team beyond last years win total. I will be shocked to see them put 4 wins on the board. Will Schwartz make the O-line better, I think he will but we will never really know how GOOD this team could have been otherwise.

Good luck with your "expert analysis". Peace.

all i can do is laugh. really. i handed you 3 links in which his projection was 2nd to 3rd round, but you won't accept it because it goes against whatever preconceived whining position you've made.

i wouldn't expect you to address the rest of my points since they basically blew everything you tried to assert out of the water. when factually brow beaten, this is probably the best choice.

what you've successfully done, is prove my statement of being a typical miserable cleveland fan.
