...also makes me realize just how underappreciated Phil Dawson has been. I hope he ends up signing with a contender. He deserves it.
Yup, Dawson does deserve better but I would hate to see him go but the Browns won't tag him again and since he purchased a home in Austin Texas last year it is probably bye-bye Phil:(

It is sort of strange that the one position the Browns were always good at filling was having a good placekicker. If they would have drafted as well as they have filled that position, they probably would have gone to a couple Super Bowls.

It will be interesting to see what they do with their other 5 free agents; Hillis, Jackson, Patterson, Sheldon Brown, and Adams. The only one that I am sure about is Jackson and I would like them to keep Patterson because he did show some potential last year.

"League sources" tell NFL.com's Steve Wyche the Browns are hoping to land Baylor QB Robert Griffin III in April's draft.

Wyche delivered the info in the middle of a mock draft, but it's still notable as the first semi-confirmation of something that has been speculated for weeks. The Browns would likely have to acquire St. Louis' No. 2 overall pick to ensure landing the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner, but with both the No. 4 and No. 22 selections, they are in excellent position to trade up. The Browns have made it clear Colt McCoy will face competition in 2012, and if it's in the form of Griffin, it's a competition he'd almost certainly lose.

dont see it happening...i thought it was more likely before hecker, holmgren and shumur had their press confrence a week ago...i dont mind taking RGIII as long as we dont trade up to get him

I'm not a fan of drafting Griffin at all, but the really stupid part would be using the No. 22 pick to move up two fucking spots.

Mel Diaper Jr.'s most recent mock has the Browns standing pat and picking RGIII at #4 after Blackmon goes #2 to St. Louis and Khalil goes #3 to Minnesota. TB then takes Trent Richardson at #5.

dumb. there was an article somewhere today that stated that the rams were going to release jason smith unless he agreed to a pay cut, and even then, he may move inside to guard. there is no way they pass on kalil at #2. if they do, it won't be to take justin blackmon.

I agree. I see it as Indy-Luck, St. Louis-Kalil, Minn-Claiborne/Blackmon

I hope the brain trust (using the term loosely) in cleveland are just putting this shit out there about trading up to get RGIII so the redskins will give them the farm if he's there at #4
