It would be really [censored]ing stupid to cut a guy everyone says they knew wasn't going to play this year. McCoy has looked like dog[censored] in the preseason, but does anyone think Ratliff is a QB of the future? If not, Holmgren will bitchslap Mangini into the stone age if he even thinks about suggesting keeping Ratliff and cutting McCoy.

EDIT: That said, I saw an article this morning that says the battle between the 2 of them for a roster spot will come down to the last preseason game against the Bears. I can't imagine there being a hair of truth about it, but this is Cleveland...

I'd lose all respect for Holmgren if a guy that was trade throw-in from a previous front office were kept over a guy he just spent a 3rd round pick on under his own watch.

Additionally, if I were Brett Ratliff I would've had my agent looking for a new landing spot right after McCoy was announced. The team brought in a pre-ordained starter, a backup that the team president drafted and coached with his old team and then drafted another guy on top of that. The writing should be on the wall.

Didn't the Browns cut Dick Lebeau back in the day? Then 50 some years and 32 int's later he is in Canton. Yeesh. :smash:
Yeah, and the stillers cut Johnny Unitas, the Buccaneers traded Steve Young, etc...it happens everyhwere. But Colt isn't getting cut. The entire notion is absurd and proves what a retarded hack Grossi is.

Also, lets get pumped!

Josh Cribbs to appear on an episode of FX's 'The League' | cleveland.com

We'll soon get to see if Joshua Cribbs can play in a different "League'' and run one back for a comedic touchdown. The Cleveland Browns kick-off return specialist and wide receiver will guest star on the episode of "The League'' airing at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30. This will be the third episode of the FX comedy's second season.
Cribbs, signed by the Browns in 2005, played quaterback at Kent State University.

Where do you come up with this stuff?
I guess what you guys are saying is that a late third round choice has never been cut after training camp even though he has not shown one thing in an exhibition game. It's either him or Ratliff and I guess based on performance one would take Ratliff but if you want to go with the higher draft choice it's McCoy. I am also a fan of McCoy and thought that he would have shown better in his limited opportunities.

The ST statement was made in jest.

3rd rounders do get cut. 3rd round quarterbacks don't. It's a developmental position. Cutting a guy just because he hasn't shown anything in the preseason even though he's not going to play during the upcoming season is as silly a decision as can be made. It isn't happening.

Colt has been dinged up too, correct? Grossi is just trying to attract hits and get people talking about his column. Obviously it's working.

IIRC, McCoy was the only draft choice Mike Holgreme got invoked with. Unless we're talking something along the line of moral turpitude, McCoy is going nowhere. Mangini may like Ratliff, but I think he likes his seven figure job a bit more.

I know the love for Grossi is not great for most of you and I have posted very little of what he has written these days and I did not get the McCoy information from an article written by him. It was a post that I quoted. I don't understand why you guys do not have any respect for Grossi. He probably has quite a few contacts, who know quite a bit, in the NFL. I am not saying that his personal knowledge of football is greater than any of yours but I think that he has more contacts in the NFL that any of us.

I don't know if McCoy has been banged up or not. That's the first I have heard of that.

The only reason that McCoy was drafted was because the DT Peters from Kentucky was drafted to slots above them or he would have slid into the fourth round but you are correct that Holmgren according to people, said that McCoy is there so let's take a chance.

I hope to Christ your kidding...

There's two ways to go with this. Either he has contacts in the NFL and there complete hacks - or he has contacts in the NFL,
gets decent information then spins it in such an incredible way that it makes him the hack.

I'm willing to go with both on this one.

That said, I could give two shits less how many "contacts" he has, ball-boys don't count. But if you listen, actually listen to what this guy types and says then you'll realize he's clinically insane and is pretty useless when it comes to anything resembling decent football talk. He's a hype man, a sensationalist - that's it.

Myself, and I'm guessing most others think so lowly of him because he works in e!spn-style sensationalist journalism and, well, he's wrong almost all of the time.

Dumb play by Suh turns into a TD. That could have been 2 PF's with the face mask and the slam. He needs to learn the NFL rules.

Defense has been a little better since the first drive. Fingers crossed. Offense is light years ahead of the crapfest that we saw last year.
