Cleveland Browns (2010 season)

I would not be surprised if Steinbach was not the starting LG when it comes to the regular-season. He is really undersized for a guard in the NFL IMO

? It's dangerous to draw conclusions from lineups in OTAs in May. Coaches may be experimenting and there could be some randomness to lineup rotations at this time. That said, the offensive line with the No. 1 unit was Joe Thomas at left tackle, Scott Kooistra at left guard, Alex Mack at center, rookie Shawn Lauvao at right guard and Tony Pashos at right tackle. Eric Steinbach was with the second team at left guard.

Steinbach not being in there with the 1s could be a motivational move

When ya wanna make an omelet... ya gotta break an egg
I would like some sausage and cheese with my omelette and Steinbach needs to become more physical. Ever since we got him from the Bengals all I have heard was the fact that he was more of a finesse player then more of a chicken who laid the egg for the omelette.

The right side of this line still concerns me...
I don't know all of our QB's are right handed so I am more concerned about the left side. Pashos is a pretty big guy and has quite a bit of experience. Plus, Womack is still available to play RG. Also have to remember that these are only OTA's and they probably are doing quite a bit of experimenting with OL and different packages like running Wallace and Cribbs together out of the wildcat formation.

Thomas and Mack alone make me feel much more secure about the left-to mid of this line. Again, much more so than the right.

Pashos is a big guy, I'm just wondering how more suited he is at playing G instead. We have some pretty solid blocking TE's so if anything that's going to be our 6th lineman, but that really hurts the passing game.

Palmer didn't play his rookie year, Jon Kitna was the starter

As far as I am concerned all five of these guys, especially Jackson, can take a hike. I would like Vickers back but the rest of these guys need to prove themselves.

BEREA, Ohio ? The Browns wanted to avoid worsening relations with their five unsigned restricted free agents, but the gauntlet has been thrown.
The club notified the players in writing that it intends to reduce its one-year contract offers if they are not signed by Tuesday.

Share The reduction, an option available to all teams but not used by the majority, would be more than $1 million for four of the five Browns affected.

"That letter has no positive effect on this situation," said Brian Mackler, agent for linebacker D'Qwell Jackson.

The other players involved are safety Abram Elam, running back Jerome Harrison, linebacker Matt Roth and fullback Lawrence Vickers.

The rules allow teams on June 15 to substitute their current tender offers with ones representing a 10 percent raise over the player's 2009 base salary. The higher tenders expire at 11:59 p.m. Monday, according to a league spokesman.

Harrison $593,000, Roth $770,000, and Elam $1.65 million.

Haggerty is catching Eric Mangini's eye along with almost every ball that comes his way.

Haggerty is this year's "it" undrafted rookie -- a relatively unknown player who manages to intrigue the coaching staff. Signed as a free agent out of Division II Southwestern Oklahoma State just after the draft, Haggerty has been impressive in minicamp and has a shot to stick around.

Browns offered RFAs incentive: The Browns offered their restricted free agents $150,000 in incentives to get into minicamp, but at least three of them didn't bite on the offer -- D'Qwell Jackson, Matt Roth and Abe Elam still stayed away.

Jerome Harrison and Lawrence Vickers participated, but it's unknown if they'll receive the extra money in the event they sign their tenders by Tuesday's deadline. The RFAs received letters saying their offers will be reduced to 10 percent above their 2009 base salary if they don't sign by the deadline.

The RFAs didn't jump at incentive because it's not easily reached. To get the extra money, the Browns would need to win 10 games or make the playoffs, plus the players would have to reach an individual milestone:lol:.

I do like the front office but these guys had no choice but sign, they had zero leverage in this situation.

You're right. But when you're an RFA from a team that went 5-11 and was even shittier the year before, you shouldn't have much leverage unless you did something spectacular.

the only one that is even somewhat close to that is Harrison, but RBs can be a dime a dozen.

Just how things shake out this year with RFA's even if they didn't like what they were being offered their only other choice was to sit out and make zilch or hope the Browns renounce their rights so they can become UFA's or the Browns find a trade partner for them. And option 2 & 3 weren't happening.

If RB's are a "dime a dozen", the Browns need to spend some dimes if we want to get a really good running back. I think Vickers is more important to the Browns then Harrison and it will be interesting to see just how much playing time Harrison sees this season because I think the Browns might go with a more power offense with Hardesty and the rather big boys.
