the math on delhomme is already up there for you to read. your logic on carson palmer is also ridiculous as well. considering that was the entire basis for your comparison, i'd say you've failed pretty handily.

You just keep telling me I am wriong, but you are not offering up any reason.

What the numbers didnt tell you in his Delhomme piece was that the last 1 and 1/2 seasons Delhomme played he was absolutely terrible.

Now YOU show me where I was so wrong.

Is there like a once a page minimum you have to make that same exact joke that no one bites on?

It isn't a joke, and no one has to bite on anything. You obviously hate every QB the Browns have (and Carson Palmer apparently) and wish they had Claussen because with his titanium elbow they could win the 12 Super Bowls they won't get with Delhomme. Everyone gets it. You can move on any time.

And what you're not getting is that his "terrible play" is not a direct and complete result of his elbow being irreparable damaged, because his first year after the injury his numbers were comparable to the seasons before the injury.

No, it has everything to do with what I said. My whole point is that once these guys have to throw a lot he will go into the tank. The first half of 2008 Delhomme was fine, but from the half way point of '08 continuing through 09 he sucked HARD! Palmer hasnt been the same since his elbow got destroyed............I dont see what the problem is here. One guy tried to provide "facts" on Delhomme but he coincidently left out his disasterous 2009 numbers and didnt even approach his stats for the second half of 08.

Regarding Clausen, he isnt a Brown so I really dont care anymore. In my opinion the QBs on our roster suck, anyone that actually thinks these guys are good isnt in tune with what works in the NFL. I would love to be in a completely different situation with say Kolb as the QB but it isnt gonna happen. Its just very frustrating as a fan.

look at delhomme's 2008 stats again champ. He had 3 of his 4 best games of the year after the week 9 bye. he didn't wear down as the season went on. your theory is a sham, and the numbers prove it.

So in Palmer's case it has absolutely nothing to do with losing TJ and having absolutely nothing to replace him with and no TE? Interesting.

nope, nor does it have anything to do with a series of leg injuries or chris henry's ill fated truck jump.

also, delhomme's elbow was the reason why he was statistically the same as he was before the injury, and faded late in '08, despite having some of his best passing games of the year after the week 9 bye that season.

it's pretty obvious.

23INTs in his last 12 games, 27 total turnovers in his last 12 games and 8TDs.

You act as though the QB plays in a vacuum. Who did he have to throw to besides Steve Smith? How many games did Gross and other OL miss with injuries? No one is saying he didn't play bad (that I know of), but you seem to think that guarantees his continued sucktitude, which it doesn't. I wasn't any more happy with the signing than you apparently were, but just because he had a bad year with no options to throw to on a running team last year doesn't guarantee he'll suck this year. And if he does suck this year...it could be because he's playing on yet ANOTHER running team with no one to throw to.

Browns RFA linebacker D'Qwell Jackson assures fans in a tweet that he'll be a Brown this year despite sitting out OTAs, minicamp and possibly training camp in a contract dispute. Full story ?

In a way, I was sorry to see this and hoped that he would rest for a year.

First team D: With several players absent and others rehabbing or resting, the first-team defense isn't set yet, but it looked like this for some reps: Kenyon Coleman, Ahtyba Rubin and Robaire Smith up front; Jason Trusnik, Chris Gocong, David Veikune and Scott Fujita at linebacker; Wright and Brown at cornerback and rookies T.J. Ward and Larry Asante at safety.

I know that it is only OTA's but two rookies at safety is not a good sign.

Also, they really need to give Phil Dawson what he is asking for because it would be very difficult to find someone better than him when it comes to kicking in Cleveland Browns Stadium.

abe elam is sitting out. coincidentally, 4 of cleveland's 5 RFA's are represented by Drew Rosenhaus. so, it's not a surprise that this is happening.

and that still isn't the point. the original premise made was that delhomme's elbow injury was the cause of his sucktitude. The fact is that his performance in '08 refutes that claim. Of course, he's going to try and change the argument now that he's been shot down. it's what he does.

and i think he was saying also that since delohmmes elbow is "toast" and not "fresh to def" that he will get in the browns opener, play so poorly, not be able to throw past 5 yards and will be benched and released by game 2

I care more about the intangibles that Delhomme brings than the stats. The guy is a proven leader and winner and I think that is something that has been sorely missing on the offensive side of the ball. There are a lot of younger guys on that team that want to win but just don't know how because of the instability and lack of leadership on that team. When you bring a QB in like Delhomme that is well respected, works hard and can lead, you do that to help your younger players develop the necessary attitude and work ethic to succeed in the NFL. The guy is 35 and we all know he wasn't brought in to win a Super Bowl but to bring some leadership and stability to an offense that sorely lacks it.

Mangini took a similar approach on the defensive side last year with the guys that he brought it and I think it paid dividends. Maybe not immediately, but by the end of the year they were playing some pretty good defense. Bowens was the heart and soul of that defense and his leadership clearly showed at the end of the season when they were playing with a WR and waiver wire pickups. A strong core of veteran leadership can help cover up talent deficiencies and put teams in a position to win games. More importantly, if they can create a sustainable winning environment, they become a very formidable team when that younger talent starts to develop.
