I see nothing wrong with bringing in a veteran slot receiver to camp. It doesn't mean that he is going to make the final roster but having played Holmgren he probably will help out the younger guys in camp. If he proves he still has legs and can catch the ball, I have nothing against him making the final roster. We need some veteran WR help even if it is just for camp.

I think this is an excellent post relating to the signing of Ingram. As I mentioned above, it probably won't see the field that much polo be an excellent tutor for our young wide receiving corps.

You have to figure Mangini and Holmgren know their business better than the average bear.

Ex-Jet/Seahawks have been brought in to fill advisor roles. My bet is that this Engram hardly sees the field this year. He is here to mentor MoMas and Robo; to provide veteran leadership, guidance and counsel. Engram will teach the kids the terminology of the new system and tell them "You did this wrong....you did this right....watch out for when he (opposing DB) does this..." when they get back to the sidelines.

Mangini brought in at least one Jet from EVERY position group last year for the purpose of teaching the new system: a process which takes a lot of time. We saw the results of that as the season progressed, where the game plan was more effectively carried out. Holmgren and Mangini know these senior citizen players aren't the short term answer. They're here to help build towards the long term solution.

Everyone needs to cool it. This is not our year. Maybe next, more likely the following. But if we get to critical then we start chanting prematurely for change, which results in coaches losing jobs, which results in new coaches and new systems and new re-building regimes. And the perpetual replay continues. In Holmgren we trust.

I mean, he's gotta be better than Charlie Frye and Brady Quinn...right? RIGHT?!?!?
