Cleveland Browns (2010 season)

No matter who else the Browns draft today, the highest grade I think can be given to this draft is a C-. Today there are tons of trades for proven veterans for 5th rounders and the Browns gave 2 of them away to freaking draft Monterio Hardesty?!?!?! They could have had Lendale White or Leon Washington for 1 of those picks. Not saying they would have been much of an upgrade, but the price they paid for Hardesty was pathetically sad. They reach for TJ Ward, at least 2 rounds. They give away 2 5th round picks (which seem to be gold this year), and they still have lots of huge question marks on this team. This is the same old Browns team that has been around for the last 10 year, just under new management. Something needs to freaking change because it seems like mediocrity is the goal this year. Ok Im done ranting now, I just cant stand the crappy decisions that this front office is making in their first draft!!!!!!!

I have to say, with all the excitement coming in, this draft has been a huuuuuuge letdown. First Berry going off the board (not their fault obviously), then reaching for a safety that I've never even heard of (despite watching several Oregon games last year), trading up for a slow RB with durability questions...

Colt McCoy is the only thing they did that I really wanted at all. Blah.

My grade: C-

They paid to much to move up for Hardesty, but you don't argue against that by saying they could've got LenDale White instead. He's a fucking tub of goo.

White may be a tub of goo but they could have had a number of players with 1 of those 5th round picks instead of him. Im just disappointed with how this draft has turned out so far is all. They had all of these picks coming in and it seems like they are either reaching, or just giving picks away for guys who could be had later on in the draft. Oh well at least we didnt get Jimmy Clausen, pretty sure HateHiney has slit his wrists by now from that. :tongue2:

The Browns final pick (6th round) is Clifton Geathers - DE - South Carolina.

Not a browns fan - but this kid was pretty tough. Not excellent at getting the the quarterback, but he sheds blocks well and has good lateral mobility. He was tough to run at and he played hard.

Nice pick for so late in the draft. Should make the team and add valuable depth.

I really don't think this draft is as bad as people are saying. Getting McCoy in the third, getting a DB, which is obviously the worst position need on the squad, in the 1st round, depth on both lines, which is never a bad thing, and a WR that people were saying could go in the 3rd round we got in the 6th. I don't think this is the same old Browns at all. I know people aren't crazy about the safeties, but if one of the two turns into a starter, I'd be thrilled, and both can help on ST immediately. Yes we didn't get Berry or 2 of the other "name" safeties, but people are forgetting just how bad this secondary is. We need help, depth, quality, instincts, speed, everything, and I think we picked up some of that. The WR in the 6th and McCoy on the 3rd were great draft value picks as well. The results may not put us in the playoffs in 2011, but I think 2 or 3 years down the road this could really help us like I think Mack from last year will. I don't see any David Veikunes in this list at all. I give it a B/B+ myself, of course we'll have to see how the safties pan out and see if the Florida CB is as good as advertised.

I should add the only pick I didn't like was Hardesty, but maybe they see something I don't. Hillis isn't going to carry it much and Davis is already injury prone, so maybe he will help out.

I don't think it's an awful draft overall, just not close to what it should have been. Ward and Hardesty were major gaffes IMO.

It doesn't seem as good as I thought but you have to give it three whole seasons to really to know.

No we don't, two players that would have been available had we just stayed put. Hardesty certainly wasn't going in the 5 picks before us. Ward could also have been taken in the 3rd.
