If Spikes falls to the early part of the 2nd round, then yes it would be very possible. Pretty sure he's rated as the #2 ILB prospect behind McClain.
I'd love to get Haden and McClain if Berry isn't available.

What about a CB as well? We really need to get McDonald out of either starting spot imo. He commits to double moves to soon, and seems to not have great ball skills while its in the air. Maybe that's my assessment.

Either way, I'd say most of us are on the same page. The secondary/defense take priority. Then middle of the 3rd we can use our rather large drafting stock to take what we like.

Btw, what is the record number of draft picks? I know we have 11, that's a ton.

I would be thrilled to see McDonald take over Poteat's role (if he even has one) in 2010. At age 49 i think i can cover better than "Hold em" Hank. It was torture watching him on the field this year.

I don't think Spikes is expected to run a good 40 time and I think his stock fell by not playing in the SEC championship.

We need to look at getting a veteran QB in here that is familiar with the WCO to tutor the young guys. Anderson will be gone, but Quinn still has a chance and he hardly has played. I am not sold that he can not play in this league. A veteran QB and some help from Holmgren could get him over the hump. If not, then look for a QB down the road.

If the Browns pick Clausen I'm [censored]ing done with this New England-Notre Dame circle jerk.

I like Clausen as a QB. I wouldn't take him in the first round, but I would draft him in the 2nd if he was there.

My first round wish list...
1. Berry
2. McClain
3. Haden

idk..I'm just glad we have 11 picks, because we can upgrade in a lot of places.

Haden is a CB.

Since Mangini is such a fan of ex Jets, I wouldnt be surprised to see them take a look at Chad Pennington. He is a free agent this year and with his ties to the coach, he might not be a horrible back up.

Interesting...

Browns in market for quarterback?

One thing became clear after listening to the Browns' new decision-makers this week: They want to do something about the team's quarterback situation. So it's very possible that the Browns will enter the 2010 season with their eighth starting quarterback in 12 years and seventh in the last eight years. When it comes to finding the next Browns' quarterback, you have to start with Mike Holmgren and Tom Heckert. That leads you to three primary candidates -- Matt Hasselbeck of Seattle, and Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb of Philadelphia.
Cleveland Plain Dealer
I'm wondering what McNabb's price tag would be. He's eroding, but would still be a step up from the gaggle fuck we have right now and would be a good guy to develop somebody under. Kolb is an intriguing prospect, but can't see Philly parting with him. Hasselbeck would be very meh.

Since they are not on the line this year to produce, why not just address the defense and worry about a quarterback next year? That is what I would do.

I understand that quarterback is an area of need, but why half ass it and hurt who you can get on defense when you could just wait a year and really address the issue.

Just throwing it out there. Any thoughts?

kolb is philly's guy of the future, i can't see them letting him go under any circumstances. mcnabb is owed a good chunk of change. i fail to see the wisdom of giving up draft picks to get a guy 34 years old for a team that is still rebuilding. hasselbeck could be an option if he's cut, but i doubt seattle cuts him.

it's a thin market for qb's this year. i shudder at the notion of possibly drafting one at #7.

I see your point. But, if the new administration isn't willing to get behind Quinn (DA's a goner), I wouldn't have a problem with them bringing in a vet if the price is right. I've heard rumblings that Philly is wanting to turn the job over to Kolb. McNabb isn't the qb he once was, but he's still more than capable and probably has 2-3 years left. He'd be a good mentor if they do decide to go after a young QB in the draft too. Either way, 11 draft picks leaves a lot of wiggle room. I doubt McNabb would happen though...Hasselbeck seems more likely given the Holmgren connection, but who knows...

I will revolt if they go QB because that more than likely means Bradford, who I'm not convinced isn't a system guy...and Cleveland drafting a qb with injury history is assinine, or Claussen. Fuck that noise. If Colt is available in round two or three, I wouldn't be horribly upset, but round one...hell no.

i don't think it will matter. both qb's will be off the board when cleveland picks anyway. the rams can't be stupid enough to use another 1st round pick on DL. That would be 3 in 4 years. If they take Suh and leave Bulger as their starter, they deserve everything they get.

Even if the rams don't take a qb, you have to assume washington and seattle will.
