It would not surprise me to see them bring Lewis in from Seattle to help with personnel decisions especially since PC will be coming to Seattle.

I wonder if Major Wright would be there in the second round for the Browns to take or am I a little off with that projection.

LITL you triggered my thinking not so much about the 2nd round but early predictions in mock drafts of who might be available and valued by the Browns organization in the first round at #7.
Here is a quick compilation of "expert's" predictions of the Brown's selection at 7.

MY NFL DRAFT.COM

This site projects Eric Berry being taken by the Browns at #7.
I doubt if he is there, but that would be an instant upgrade.

Sports Illustrated

predicts Mark Herzlich, LB, Boston College Or perhaps Sergio Kindle at #7.

Walter Football.com

Projects Joe Haden as the Brown's pick at #7.

NFL Draft Dog.com

predicts Dez Bryant will be the choice at #7.
IMHO he would add the greatest impact to an offense sorely deficient in WR depth.

FFToolbox.com

Brandon Spikes, Eric Berry, Derrick Morgan, Russell Okung, Jimmy Clausen (twice) :yow1: are the selections in mock drafts of 6 writers of FFtolbox.

Footballsfuture.com

Predicts Dez Bryant.

Squidoo

Eric Berry is the choice.

http://www.draftsite.com/nfl/2010mock.htm

Predicts Terrence Cody to the Browns.

It will been interesting to see with Holmgren now as the president if the Browns might decide to take an offensive player like Bryant in the first-round. I might be wrong but I just don't see Berry being there at #7 and that is why I mentioned Major Wright as a second round pick. I would not mind them taking McLain, who I do not see mentioned above, as their seventh pick. He would be a nice ILB in either the 3-4 or 4-3.

I like Haden or Berry at #7. We need secondary help desperately. If neither is on the board I would take the OT Okung. This draft is fairly deep. With 11 picks the Browns should get 3-4 starters and plenty of depth.

one of the things holmgren has said on several occassions was that if he had it to do all over again in seattle, he would have gone for youth on defense and FA vets on offense. He did it the other way around by and large. given that, and given what appears to be the available talent at the #7 range, I have to assume the pick will either be mcclain or haden.

Agree with McClain, he is definitely a safe pick IMO.

Strongly disagree on Okung. With the way our line played at the end of the year, that is the area of least concern. I think our first 2 if not our first 3 picks should be spent on defense. Give me Haden/McClain/Berry in round 1, a guy like Brandon Spikes in round 2 if he falls, and in round 3 i think you take the best defensive player available. If there is no one you like there, then go ahead and pull the trigger on a QB like Jevan Snead.

Another QB propect I would like the Browns to take a look at in later rounds is CMU's Dan LeFevour.

Completely disagree with the QB's and I won't even amplify my disagreement.

I do agree with the fact that I think are first three picks should be on the defensive side of the ball. Haden/McLean in the first round, in the Second round get a ILB or DB whichever we did not get in the first round and then get another Defensive player with one of our picks in the third round.

I agree that the OL needs to get a little bit younger but we can use our Second pick in the third round and later rounds to bolster that position.

Agree we need good young talent on D. OT's are a premium position. With Okung you could move Womack back to Guard. It all depends on Free Agency. Holmgren is on record saying he approaches the offense with FA and Defense through the draft. We need help on both sides. CB, OT, S, LB are my observations as biggest areas of need in order.

I was high on LeFevour until i watched him in the Bowl game. Average arm. Also, his throwing motion the Scouts won't like. Good size and athleticism. I would be suprised if he is higher than a fourth or fifth round selection.

If Spikes falls to the early part of the 2nd round, then yes it would be very possible. Pretty sure he's rated as the #2 ILB prospect behind McClain.
I'd love to get Haden and McClain if Berry isn't available.

What about a CB as well? We really need to get McDonald out of either starting spot imo. He commits to double moves to soon, and seems to not have great ball skills while its in the air. Maybe that's my assessment.

Either way, I'd say most of us are on the same page. The secondary/defense take priority. Then middle of the 3rd we can use our rather large drafting stock to take what we like.

Btw, what is the record number of draft picks? I know we have 11, that's a ton.
