Cleveland Browns (2010 season)

Yeah I was watching last call and they were beating that drum..... I truely believe that the Browns need to take a page from the Roony's of the world and keep some consistancy at the HC position. Mangini has improved the team and I think he has learned some lessons along the way. I get tired of Browns fans so quick to pull the trigger with no instant gratification..... The Browns are on the verge IMO and need to keep consistancy at the top and continue to make great personel decisions like Holmgren already has.

also i think the reason alot of people in the cleveland media are pushing for mangini to be fired is because of the expectations for him to be fired after last year since he is not a Holmgren guy...basically this year was his "contract" year where he was supposed to prove to Holmgren and everyone that this team is improved and will win more games...well he currently has 2 more games to improve the record from last year...and what was going on during the cinci game where he was actually calling in plays for the defense instead of Ryan? i never heard the explanation for that but i just assumed he was pissed off at ryan's defensive schemes and was calling in different ones because he was doing everything possible to save his job...i do like mangini and would feel bad if hes fired but live ive said before i do not want to see us fire mangini to hire the defensive backs coach for the Houston Texans...we need to make a good hire that we can hopefully rely on for more then 2 years

both ryan and mangini have come out and said that it was absolutely false that mangini was calling plays. the CPD later admitted that they deduced he was calling plays due to unusual hand movements from mangini on the sidelines.

both MKC and Grossi have been leading the charge to get mangini fired. this was a poor attempt to try and vilify him further, and it blew up in their faces.

remember when grossi told the entire nation that the next coach of the cleveland browns would be Jim Tressel....HAHA...he is pretty stupid

I don't think Ryan is a HC next year, I really don't. I think he will be back. Which is good, because if we can get a DE and another player in the secondary, the defense will be formidable next year.

The ONLY reason I would think they would make him the HC is because of all the hype his brother gets.

I agree with most that we should stik with mangina. Changing coachs RARELY works.

Reading or listening to the Cleveland media talk about Browns football is just brutally painful. Grossi is a dumbass plain and simple. He knows ZERO about football and just wants to second guess every decision without understanding how the game is played.

They were all on the Mangini bandwagon when they beat the Saints and Patriots and now that they lost the last 2 games it is time to escort Mangini out of town without looking at the big picture. The loss of Fujita has been HUGE on the defensive side of the ball and I think accounts for some of the poor play over there, and even though McCoy played Sunday, imagine how the offense might be if he had not suffered the injury and had continued to grow with the offense.

The media has been critical of his draft last year which I can't argue with, however when allowed to focus on coaching alone this year, I believe Mangini has achieved some very positive results. Now that we have a solid front office in place, there is the opportunity to build a foundation and a solid future for this franchise. There needs to be more patience

This team needs another solid draft and a couple of good FA acquisitions to be competitive next year. Changing coaches is not the answer...it's only going to put things in reverse once more. I think many of us see the same thing....

I was listening to Dickie V on Mike and Mike this morning talk about Coach K and ultimately eclipsing the 1000 win mark. He mentioned that he had a sub .500 record after his first three seasons at Duke and would probably be fired in this day and age. He noted that fortunately he had an administration that recognized what he was trying to do and had the patience to let him do it. That is exactly what we need to see happen here.

I think Mangini is a very smart man, and has the attention of his players still. I also think that this team does not have the talent to win at a high level consistently. McCoy getting hurt didn't help. The last 2 games have been very disappointing to me though. I'm fine with Mangini unless we know we can find someone better. I trust Heckert and Holmgren. It's their job to put the right people in charge. If we can't trust those two then Cleveland is just doomed forever. We're in the best potential position that the franchise has been in since it came back. Gotta make smart, well thought out decisions. Hopefully that happens. And no matter what, our talent level is going to go up up up over the next couple years.

McCoy looks good!!!

One of the reasons Mangini will never be popular with local media is that he's a prick. Plain and simple. Crennel was a teddy bear and everybody loved him until the losses became too much to bare. Mangini will have to win big to ever get the media off his back. Aside from my kneejerk posts after ugly losses, I see the merit in keeping him. All told, this team has outperformed just about any expectations this season with a patchwork roster. Get Colt a weapon or two to throw too, a back to compliment Hillis (hopefully Hardesty), a pass rush, a little more OL help, and a real OC and lets see what he can do. This team is in much better shape right now than when he took over.

They have a future with some pretty bright players on both sides of the ball to build around.

McCoy, Thomas, Mack
Ward, Haden

Those are some pretty important positions too. I also think the team has some players who could develop into very solid role players. I think Massaquoi will be a very solid #2 with a legitimate #1 on the roster.

If they can get a free agent at a position of need, draft another starter and get someone else who can contribute in the draft next year.. they'll be a .500 team at worst imo. They have some nice veterans I didn't mention. Probably not part of the future, but they'll help get the team there.

McCoy, Thomas, Mack are a nice nucleus, but you forgot the running game. Pair Hillis with a good "change of pace" back, and that's the makings of a well rounded offense. Hopefully Hardesty can be that guy.

Didn't include Hillis because I fear his running style will give him a pretty short career.. not long enough to consider him a building block.

thats why he said get someone else to change pace give hillis half the carries. plus good run game vastly improves passing game

I know. But those guys aren't on the Browns roster yet, so I didn't include them in the current players on the roster to build around. :p

Hardesty hasn't shown anything to be worthy of a bulding-block reference. Hopefully that changes.
