And your targeting my post why? Its not like I'm being negative or in no way making a contribution.

Hell if anything yoyo's post was pretty much the clone of mine, just with a few different words and sentence structure.

And he's been a starting QB 2 years, as other's have pointed out a RS soph.
So please let me know where your getting at. Its not like you need "contacts" to determine that he's been dubbed one of the top draft targets overall.
I do not think that a QB who has only played 2 years of college is ready to step right in and play in the NFL and that is exactly what he would have to do if he was drafted by the Browns. I do not think a team that is drafting high then needs a QB is going to draft him with only two years of college experience and shame on yoyo:)

luck will have about the same number of starts under his belt that sam bradford did. so, unless you put a lot of weight into how much bradford developed with his arm in a sling in his 4th year, it's not a stretch to think that luck could step right in and play.

See, now there's an explanation I can begin to agree with.

If he was a 3 year starter would you be be more comfortable with that?

My feeling is, he's been solid thus far, does what's asked of him and remains cool under pressure. Krenzel-Esque. If he continues on that path the remainder of the season I don't see why he couldn't be a fine prospect. Maybe you are right, he doesn't have the starting years under his belt, but he's no less of age compared to any other true Junior or in some cases Seniors.

But if the Browns drafted him I doubt he'd be tossed to the wolves. By mid-season he might get a shot. God forbid we need to go that route, I'd prefer Colt to end up being a good solution and future QB for us.

I would be shocked if Luck stayed in school, and I'd be even more shocked if he didn't go in the top 5. He's a QB with the tools, he's shown he can play, and he has the size. The potential is all there.

Just my opinion. But I feel like it's an educated opinion. It's obvious that he'd benefit from another year in school. But, if you're going to be drafted that high, you leave. There are countless examples of people staying and hurting their stock. JL being the most recent and Alex Boone being another. And that's just from our school.

However, I think the NFL's pending labor issues will play a significant factor into Luck's decision.....

een looking at the 2011 FA class. And barring me missing some possible extensions. There are some interesting options the Browns could look at.

RT - Jared Gaither. Only his 4th year; I've seen him listed anywhere from 325-40. If you can get him to 320 I'd say take a shot at the guy. Especially if the 'birds want to move Oher to LT. I understand he'll have to play a different side of the line. But its always something to consider.

RB - DeAngelo Williams. I don't think Carolina wants to let him go, but he's 27, good speed and vision and I think with the way the Panther's season is going, plus sharing carries with Stewart (not that's a bad thing) might tempt him elsewhere. His ypc average is a bit down from previous years, but he would most certainly be an effective and welcome addition. I don't think it would break the bank either.

DL - Marcus Spears. Didnt teh Cowboys say he was on the trading block multiple times? I'm not sure if that's a performance issue, contract dispute or other.

Big names, but names that I'm tossing out regardless.

Oh wait, almost forgot.

WR - Santonio Holmes.

Love all the chatter going on, but I feel I just need to stress one thing.

CUT E-Wright PLEASE. My god, my 4 year old niece would be more willing to try and tackle someone than this chump. Usually, this is often overlooked if the guy can cover...But no E-Wright is getting RAPED every Sunday by opposing WRs. This past Sunday when the Browns were finishing off the defending champs and everyone on my facebook was loving life...I couldn't help but continue bashing Wright for blowing coverage, whiffing on a 3rd down tackle that would have stopped them short of the chains, and then getting a penalty on the following play.

I say you can get a serviceable corner via FA. E-Wright move to nickel if not trade/release. Elam bye. Draft WR, DE, CB, OL/HB and build depth (absolutely need WR playmaker though).

Are we really talking about the 2011 draft and off-season FA signings three days after beating the defending Super Bowl champs? Come on, people! Let's enjoy this for at least a week before starting into the "wait until next year" crap. :tongue2:

DING DING DING! We have a winner!!!

As I was reading the last page I was going to chime in, luckily I read the most recent posts to see BuckeyeMike beating me to the punch.

The labor issues should have a HUGE effect on who comes out for the draft. If no new labor deal is seen on the horizon then only the most desperate underclassman should declare (and even then it isn't a smart move).

Of course that could be worked around if the NFL did a deal that said that the 2011 draft would still be under the old rules, if so, everyone and their mother is coming out.
