Totally agree regarding Ward. I do not think it was a cheap shot because he cannot stop on a dime and, as you pointed out, and was not a helmet to helmet hit. Also, how did he know that Shively was not going to catch the ball.3074326;1785973; said:Hit of the year so far. Didn't lead with the helmet. He was awarded a penalty because it was violent, not because it was illegal. Shouldn't get fined...
On another note, Michael Lewis (safety) is getting released by the 49ers. He's a solid safety. Just had his spot taken by Taylor Mays, who has looked really good from what I've read/heard. Browns should take a look. He's a SS, but could fill in at FS. Not bad in coverage. Better than Elam..
He played in Philadelphia from 2002-2006, which spans all of Heckert's tenure minus one year. He was very productive then too.. wouldn't surprise me to see him in Cleveland.
EDIT: Yeah, I just reported this before Adam Schefter. [censored] Michigan.
LitlBuck;1786460; said:I would not mind them picking up another safety. As we all know the Browns could not have enough DBs. I have also heard that there is a RB from the Redskins who might become available. Hillis cannot play all 16 (okay 14) games and have over 20 carries per game and still make it through the season. Harrison and Davis both seem a little injury proned plus said that really scat backs. Actually, we should be scanning the waiver wire for quite a few positions.
Pretty sure he's going to be getting the bulk of the carries this week with Portis looking gimpy (as usual). Shannahan loves him. Doubt he'll be available.Hopefully it's Ryan Torain. But I don't think it'll be him. He was going to start for Denver when Shanahan was still coaching, but he got hurt. I think he was then cut.
But I'm not sure who else it would be? Not going to be Portis.. Torain is listed third on the depth chart behind Keiland Williams.
I like what I've seen from Torain. Hope he's available.

Totally agree here. The combo of Pashos and Womack is so much better than St. Clair and Womack it is almost laughable. It will be interesting to see what happens when Lauavo is completely healthy because everything that I hear on the Browns television shows say that he is pretty nasty.tsteele316;1786740; said:actually, i thought pashos played quite well during his 6 quarters of action this year.
I can't believe that they fined TJ Ward for $15,000. I think they were on a collision course anyhow and even Shipley's former teammate McCoy does not think it was deserving of a fine. That might be a little bit of a stretch but I just don't see Ward being able to stop on a dime.BEREA -- Browns rookie safety T.J. Ward has been fined $15,000 for his hit on Cincinnati receiver Jordan Shipley.
The Associated Press first reported the fine and a Plain Dealer source confirmed it... more
BEREA -- The Browns confirmed they acquired defensive end Jayme Mitchell from Minnesota for an undisclosed draft choice in 2012.
Mitchell, 6-6 and 285 pounds, was signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Mississippi in 2006.
Share 22 Comments In 29 NFL games, he had five sacks and one forced fumble. One of the sacks came in the Vikings' 2010 season-opener at New Orleans.
The Browns have been shorthanded on the defensive line all season because of injuries. They seldom have fielded more than two defensive linemen on passing downs.
To make room for Mitchell, the Browns waived defensive back Derrick Roberson.
