Really doubt that happens. Him and Shanahan are getting a lot of talk and very little of it even mentions Cleveland. If Cowher comes back, and I think he will eventually, I think he's gonna want to go to a team that has a solid base to build on. The Browns are essentially building from the ground up. I don't think that will be very attractive to him.

Good points. I realized afterward that "starting over" was a little bit of an exaggeration, especially compared to previous changes.

And as stowfan mentioned, he is leaving the team in better shape than when he got here. So, that's nice.

dammit now where was this running game back in September?

I know I know, it was sitting on the bench behind Jamal Lewis :smash: :smash:

BTW has anyone else made the connection of when the Browns and the Buckeyes re-emphasized the running game the team's offense immediately started playing with more cohesion and efficiency?

Honestly I say give Mangini another chance. He has earned it over the past few weeks. I feel like the players are finally starting to believe in him as a coach. Obviously the talent is still lacking, but that is what Holmgren and a new GM are for.

Who knows, with a competent quarterback this team could win 7-9 games next year.

I agree with this, but Mangini is going to need to give up a lot of control that he currently has. I think it's almost as much Mangini wanting to stay in a reduced role as Holmgren wanting to keep him. The personnel decisions will be made by the new GM and Holmgren, and I think Holmgren should bring in a OC that runs his type of offense. Even if Mangini goes I'd like to see Ryan stay on as the DC. I think this defense could be really good if they add a handful of playmakers.

I have to disagree with people saying that Mangini "created" this mess. I don't see how a person can say that. Look at the players up and down the Browns roster when he got here..I don't think that anyone could win with those players. Many of the players making plays now are people that Mangini personally brought in. He's finally the coach to use Cribbs in the perfect way. The only coach to actually utilize Jerome Harrison. The only coach to make Brady Quinn an OK quarterback. I don't know another coach that could win 4 straight games with this team right now...

I wholeheartedly want Mangini back. He got rid of the crap (Braylon Edwards) on this team and has finally gotten the team to buy into his strategy and style. You all see the results. I honestly don't see how someone can say that he created this mess??? Makes zero sense whatsoever to me. Where this team is right now, he's made this team 10 times better than last year. I can't wait to see how good we can be if he's back next year. If the Browns don't keep Mangini someone else is getting a very good coach.

I haven't always liked his personality but I've always maintained that he was a good coach, and the longer we've had him around I've even begun to like his personality more.

Aaaaaaaaaand another sad season is in the books. At least they showed some life at the end though, even if it was against shit teams. Should be an interesting offseason, to say the least...

- Will Mangini be back?
- If not, who takes over...do they go for a "name" coach or take another shot at the young assistant route? I tend to think the former.
- Who becomes GM? No debacle like last year, please.
- 11 draft picks...woohoo!
- What do they do in FA? I think a lot depends on the coaching move. Like it or not, Mangini and the Browns got a lot of bad press this season, gotta wonder what effect that will have on potential FA's.
- Even if Mangini is back, Daboll needs to go.
- Please, please keep Rob Ryan and get him some players.
- QB? I don't think they're ready to give up on Quinn. However, given the offensive gameplan the last two weeks, I think it's pretty clear the writing's on the wall for DA (finally). I'm thinking they bring in a vet to compete with/push Brady.
- Need to bring in at least one reciever that would start on most NFL teams. Robo may develop. MoMass seems to me like Braylon redux...minus the attitude.
- PAY CRIBBS.
