Eric Mangini might be worst NFL coaching hire ever - Joe Posnanski - SI.com

Ouch. There's some revelations in this article that, if true, significantly lower my opinion of Mangini.

Revelations? The mural thing? That's not a new story.

Browns fans are arguably the most whiny/impatient in the NFL.

FIFY

Maybe it's time to stop. Stop giving these clowns in charge your hard earned money. Maybe the only way to get through to them is to hit them in the only place they obviously care about...their pockets. [censored] this organization. I'll continue to follow along because ineptitude amuses me, but I no longer care.

See ya. You'll be back... sort of like the bandwagon Bengals fans who appeared out of nowhere after Carson Palmer arrived.

NFBuck is the last guy I'd even consider calling a bandwagon fan so you're on your own with that.

And yes while there is a segment of every fan base that is whiny and impatient, if you aren't making noise about how bad the Browns completely SUCK at this point, you've got a serious problem or you aren't a fan in the first place.

New to me. Hadn't heard that.

Yeah, we're all familiar with your schtick. Impatient? That is beyond fucking comical. If you consider 11 years impatient (actually, two playoff appearances in two decades is a better example), then go ahead. Impatient. Honestly, that may be the most ridiculous shit I've seen on this board. :slappy:

I've followed this team since I was old enough to understand football. When they didn't have a team, I didn't give a fuck about the NFL. Don't give me the "bandwagon" fucking fan bullshit. I already said I'd still follow, I just find it incrementally more difficult to give a fuck when clearly the clowns in charge do not. If that's not acceptable to you Mr. Highhorse, personally, I don't give a fuck.

If they could have somehow been able to hire Ozzie Newsome when the franchise started back up, we would be talking about how awesome the Browns have been for a few years now.

I watch Baltimore and Pittsburgh play, and it's unbelievable how much better their players are than ours. At virtually every position, especially on defense.

How, on the pro level, can you field a team that is so inferior talent wise to the competition? It's like we are a Div I AA team and the other teams in the league are all Div I BCS conference champions.

I'll tell you how you do it. You continue to hire guys who, instead of having the ability to build their own program, simply snatch up the rejects of their former teams, who are either not good enough or too old to play anywhere else.

That's all Crennel/Savage did, and that's what the new regime is doing.

The starting QB throws a pick that even a high schooler would read better, and then the backup QB goes into the fetal position when there ar no pass rushers anywhere neat him. Unbelievable.

And the defense is 10 times worse than the offense.

There is obviously a dearth of talent here, but nobody can convince me it's as bad as the product being put out on the field. It's clear that this team simply does not buy what Mangini is selling (whatever that may be). A lot of us welcomed a coach who was known to be a disciplinarian after four years of country club Crennel. What we didn't take into account was the culture shock these players would be experiencing. I really think that's a big part of what's going on. That and a pretty weak roster, obviously.

This team needs a buffer between Lerner and the football operations. He either doesn't care or is completely in over his head making such big decisions. I know three games is a small sample size on a coaches resume, but this team has already quit. Hell, they never even started. If they cut lose Mangini, nobody worth a damn is going to want that job. Cleveland is the graveyard of coaches right now. Take the head job here, never coach in the NFL again. Palmer, Davis and Crennel will never get an NFL head coaching job again. Mangini won't either. This team is fucked in every way imaginable.

A friend today on facebook:

So i'm talkin about the Browns at work w/ some fellow browns fans and and i hear alot of talk about them switching teams, SERIOUSLY??...........alright i know we suck and have sucked for a long time now but we got to stay true browns fans our time will come 3 yrs from now 5 yrs maybe even 10 we'll make the playoffs again and we can say that we didn't jump ship like others have and you know that the people who did switch will say yeah i've been a browns fan all along!! In the words of Lee Corso..."Not so fast my freind" you switched teams dude get outta here. hang in there guys.

one thing we can do as fans is not buying a single ticket to a game this year kind of like a protest of a bad buisness, sooner or later the organization will lose money and be forced to re-evaluate their sitiuation and maybe even sell the team thats the best thing for us right now kind of like bankruptcy, get rid of the Dead Weight and hire new management.

Tough to be a Browns fan, but I'm in this shit for life.. come what may.

I agree. My allegiances will never stray from Cleveland, but it's hard to invest much when they are so far from even being respectable thanks to the boobs in charge.

I'll never leave this team.

Shit, it's becoming kind of my identity as a sports fan.

There are certain things that piss me off, though.

I have a brother-in-law who is a "drive by" Bengals fan and he has commenced talking shit this season.

"We're (yes, he's one of those "we" did this and "we" did that fans) a fluke away from 0-3." "The Browns are horrible."

What the fuck ever, brother. I had to pull out the "name 5 guys on the team" card at dinner the other night in front of his wife. He couldn't do it. Thoroughly embarrassed him. Fuck them. Fuck everyone.

Browns fans are a fraternity unto themselves. I'll never leave em. I might not watch them, but I'll never leave them.

My "schtick" is that I'm tired of this team sucking, but I'm also tired of the organization bending over to the fans' complaints and wishes. I think that's one of the biggest reasons why this franchise continues to be stuck in a funk. The fans are always crying out for quicker and more dramatic changes as if this team is going to win a Super Bowl overnight. And the ownership is listening. Why? Most of the fans are overemotional and irrational and say things like...

I'll continue to follow along because ineptitude amuses me, but I no longer care.

Now, that's [censored]ing ridiculous. I don't apologize for calling you out on that one. I'm tired of hearing Browns' fans pretend to not care or "threaten" to stop giving the organization their money. That's silly.

I'm a loyal Browns' fan. Always have been. Always will be. I'll probably go to more games when they suck like they do now than when they're good (because the ticket will be harder to get). Yeah, I'm [censored]ed that they suck. I'm not happy with the direction the team is going. They're probably looking at 0-16. But I'm hopeful for the future and I'll be damned if I'm just going pretend not to care or stop going to the games. That's the overemotional, irrational talk... and I don't buy for one second that (1) you don't care or (2) that you're just going to stop spending money on merchadise or game tickets. So stop posturing...
