Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

If this were a regular season game the Packers would've dropped at least 42 points on them with ease.
Yeah, they're pretty much toying with them. I just don't get how an offense can be THAT inept. I guess you can semi-excuse the poor defense on the lack of rest (thanks offense), but then again, it's the preseason, so they're rotating. I don't know...whatever, six wins and I'll be happy, but that may be a stretch with this group.

Positives:
-Quinn looked decent and was one stonehands drop from a very good game
-OL looked decent in pass pro
-Cribbs is still a beast
-We have a good punter

Negatives, where to begin:
-DA is just a bad NFL QB. He'll continue to get support for the first 11 games of his career, but he's not a good NFL QB.
-Ratliff doesn't look much better unless he's playing the team he's now on.
-Run blocking looks bad.
-Jamal looks old as fuck and I don't know if anybody can step up to ease his load.
-Can't stop the run.
-Still can't stop the pass
-Turnovers, dumb penalties.
-Questionable/very vanilla playcalling at times.

In a perfect world, these things will happen and this season won't be an abomination (in order of likelihood):
-BQ will develop into a solid QB. He doesn't have the strongest arm, but his accurcy looked pretty good tonight, and that's what is key in the offense they'll be running.
-Robo will step up and become a very good #2 option (hell, maybe THE option if stonehands keeps it up).
-THE OL will give Quinn time to operate.
-Harrison will be able to handle a Leon Washington kind of role and lighten Jamal's workload.
-The DL will gel and provide enough pressure to ease a patchwork defensive backfields development.
-Stonehands will learn to catch.
-They'll score an offensive TD (almost got one tonight!).

Hopefully some of that happens and this season isn't a wash before it even begins. Just get to 6-10. Just get to 6-10...

Oh yeah...the run defense is terrible.

I know it's only the first game, but good God, I was hoping to see some signs of improvement. Oh well...like I said last week, six wins would be a triumph.

It was amazing how Green Bay's 2nd team offensive line was blowing up the Cleveland D-Line like they were tackling dummies and I won't even mention what their first team did to Cleveland's D-line.

Shaun Rogers probably improves the performance a little, but as tonight showed us there is NO depth behind him.

There is no truth to the rumor that Dave Zastudil has taken out a wear and tear insurance policy from Lloyd's of London on his kicking leg. It's going to get a lot of work this year though.

One stonehands drop and one holding call on a FG attempt. That would've been ten points and he only played two series. One of those came against GB's second team defense, but up until the pick in the end zone (a play which never should've taken place) he was doing what you're supposed to do against second team defenses, which is more than can be said for Derek Anderson.

Where are the Anderson lovers out there? Man, he had a decent first year, but his inconsistency shown through.

I'm thinking Cleveland would have been much better off mending the fences with Kellen Winslow and letting Edwards go....TD pass, catchable ball, and he drops it. Next play Brady ends up throwing the Int in his direction as a result. Braylon isn't worth it, and after starting to complain about the people starting to turn on him at the end of last year...no sympathy.

I now throw my hat firmly in the Quinn camp. I brutalized DA on here last year, but was willing to give him one more shot. I said all along his first 11 games were an aberration. That dumbass INT sums up his career and I hope he's gone before preseason is over. He may have the (very)occasional good game in him (NYG), but follows that up with several that make me want to piss in his shoes. Strong arm +10 cent brain = bad QB.

I remember somebody on here supporting him last year, but there aren't many...probably even less now. He's garbage and always will be because he thinks he can live on his arm strength.

Winslow + Mangini would = trainwreck of epic proportions. He's a child. He's already causing problems in TB from what I've read. I have no issue with that trade whatsoever. As for stonehands, I was wishing they'd trade him the whole way up to the draft. I don't get how a person who is payed so much to do something so simple can be sooooooo bad at it.

This is a bad football team. I think we have the right coach though. Get some talent and some guys to buy into his ways and we may have something a little ways down the road.
