Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

Anderson completely played himself out of a job tonight I think. He'll be in camp to take the stress off of Quinn's arm during defensive drills and whatnot, but it's Quinn's job to lose...
...and if he loses it to either DA or Ratliff, he ain't an NFL QB either and this team is in the pole position for the #1 pick next year. I did like what I saw from him tonight though. they actually moved the ball with him in, particularly in the 2-minute offense. I think he'll be okay, we just need some recievers to step up and give him some targets. I'm a hiccup away from writing stonehands off as a lost cause, and don't really know enough about Mohammed M to say much, but I think Robo will make a good NFL reciever. I don't necessarily see him as a focal point, but a very good #2. Stonehands needs to pull his head out of his ass. They should've traded DA when he still had decent value because he's playing his way out of the NFL.

DA won't leave camp on the Browns roster. They will likely cut him loose at the end of it.

And I think Braylon may be trade bait here as things go on. I could easily see the Browns saying he needs a change of scenery and getting someone to buy into it.

If the rookies or Furrey/Patten really step up, maybe, but I don't see them going into the season with a WR corp of Furrey, Patten, Massequoi, Cribbs and Robo.

I was actually thinking they would trade him in-season if/when the season has finally become a total loss and rebuilding mode begins.

If he continues this way I don't think Mangini will wait too long to do it.

Ah, I see...that would make more sense.

Mangini isn't one for coddling his players. If stonehands can't catch the ball, I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench...followed by an epic meltdown/hissy fit.

I don't know if we'd even see a hissy fit. Edwards is so mentally weak he'd probably just curl up into a ball and suck his thumb on the sideline.

Nah, he's a scUMmer. He comes with a bullshit sense of entitlement.

Oh, on a side note, despite the apparent lack of talent, I do think the defense looked more aggressive than in years past. That's a plus in my eyes.

Another thing...that talk of an "open competition" seems like BS to me now. Ratliff: 13 attempts, DA: 2...that speaks volumes. I think it was a political ploy on Mangini's part. He knows what he has in DA and all he needed was that one pick to verify it. The competition, barring BQ absolutely imploding is between DA and Ratliff and it's for the backup job. Mangini likes his NY guys and DA now has a massive mountain to climb.

Our best WR tonight is most teams 4th.

The LB play still stinks, we just now have a lot of them.

The good news is that's just the 1st game so there's time for improvement, but I didn't see a lot to leave much of a "warm fuzzy"...

It was amazing how Green Bay's 2nd team offensive line was blowing up the Cleveland D-Line like they were tackling dummies and I won't even mention what their first team did to Cleveland's D-line.

Shaun Rogers probably improves the performance a little, but as tonight showed us there is NO depth behind him.

There is no truth to the rumor that Dave Zastudil has taken out a wear and tear insurance policy from Lloyd's of London on his kicking leg. It's going to get a lot of work this year though.

Actually Rubin played a nice game at the nose...the problem isn't the nose position, we have 2 players there, it's the fact we have completely fucking worthless defensive ends and can't pressure the QB. At all. Ever. For any reason. Under any circumstances. In any formation. On any down. With any stunt. With any combination of players. Against any QB.

I liked what I saw from Quinn...that one pass over the middle to Cribbs was an absolute strike, and he moved the ball pretty well a couple of times. If toaster hands hadn't dropped the TD, at least we would have had points. I think he'll be a servicable QB with a rating of around 70...not great, but he isn't exactly dripping in weapons at the skill spots.

Jamal Lewis is a warrior, but God he looked like he might need a power scooter just to get to the LOS. I hope Davis is good enough to play, because we're going to need 3 guys.

maybe that was the cause, but he was getting pushed around a lot it seemed.

rubin would have one good play then 2 lousy ones. that's what you saw.
kenyon coleman is ok. cory williams still looks like a fish out of water. while kam wimbley did a few things better, cleveland's OLB's still suck ass.

DA only got 2 pass attempts because he had 2 3 and outs. had he been able to matriculate a 1st down at all, he'd have gotten to throw more. but as always, he has no pocket presense and was late with everything he did.

the OL is also not very good. Fraley was abused quite a few times. steinbach was average. the right side was pedestrian.

hopefully there is massive improvement next week.

There is a precedent for this

I guess I understand now why Romeo did not allow any contact during preseason practices last year. I mean after watching the majority of Saturday's game what difference does it make. I sure hope that they were just kidding around in Green Bay or this season could be longer than last year's if that is possible.

We do have a good punter:)

The offense did move with Brady under center, that's one positive I can take away from that turd. If stonehands doesn't drop an easy TD, they score their first offensive touchdown in six games. I think we'll be fine with BQ under center. I can't say I feel the same way with stonehands at WR. To be honest, if he cannot learn to catch the fucking ball, put his ass on the bench and start Robo and Furrey. If he throwns a hissy fit trade him to the highest bidder or waive his ass.
