Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

Hell, they may not even win games, but I don't think they'll look as shitty in the process, and that's all I'm really hoping for this year.

Agreed. I'm not saying playoffs or anything, but hell, 6-10 and a couple upsets would be a drastic improvement. I'd take that in a heartbeat.

To be consistently competitive, having our players and organization actually act like they want to be part of a professional team would be nice.

If we go 6-10 but show the heart to keep playing, and be constant in that act, I'll be happy.

Toss in an ass kicking of Pittspuke once would be just dandy though.

If you think about it, the NFL is a league built for a team to have an 8-8 record. As bad as the Browns were last year, they were close to this. The great equalizer is injuries. Mangini has some depth now to work with. We need a couple more impact players (pass rush, DL) and we can get to the next level IMO. The roster is much improved from last year. I like the work the team is putting in thus far. It's a whole different tune from the last several years. As a season ticket holder i'll be there, although i sometimes wonder why. Go Browns!

I agree. What I like most about what Mangini has done is that he's building a team based on depth. When/if the Browns can add some impact players, they'll be on their way.

Sounds like things are getting a little testy regarding the QB battle:biggrin:

Mangini addresses reports on QB hand signals and Rogers
by Mary Kay Cabot
Wednesday August 12, 2009, 1:27 PM

* Mangini shook his over a report that Derek Anderson accused Brady Quinn of stealing hand signals during Sunday's Brown and White scrimmage at the Stadium. He said the scrimmage was competitive and "we were all playing for different things'' throughout the course of the game. But he stressed that Anderson and Quinn are good friends and that any comments regarding the hand signals were all in good fun. "All I see them doing is helping each other and supporting each other to move the team forward,'' Mangini said.

* In response to Shaun Smith saying that Shaun Rogers wants to return to Detroit, Mangini said things are great between him and Rogers. "I couldn't be happier with Shaun,'' said Mangini. "He's fun to watch if you're on the defensive side.''

He said he didn't approach Rogers about Smith's comments, but that he stresses to the players to come and talk to him so they don't "let little things become big things.''

* Mangini said rookie running back James Davis missed practice Tuesday night because he had to get some dental work.

Below is a link to the Browns first released 2 deep depth chart which is required by the NFL.

Cleveland Browns | Team :: Depth Chart

Sort of surprised to see Anderson listed as the #1 QB but there is a long way to go and since this depth chart was required by the NFL I won't put a whole lot of stock into it. I was also surprised to see St. Clair listed over Tucker as the #1 RT. There will be quite a battle at the wide receiver position and it will be interesting to see what shakes out there. Also, somewhat surprised that Robaire Smith is not on the starting DL. As stated above, thank goodness this depth chart is required by the NFL.

Said in the CPD this morning Mangini had all rookies on the 2nd team by default, so don't read much into guys like Mack being 2nd right now, FWIW.

Brady Quinn 100% class. What has this guy ever done to be anything more than an ass clown? I'd love to see Anderson win the job, Quinn get traded and then get injured to the point where he can never play again.

Seems a tad harsh, isn't it? I mean rooting for the guy to get benched, cut, traded, or hold a clipboard all his life is fine...but to get seriously injured?

Ok I retract the serious injury in exchange for getting caught in a gay orgy, causing him to get cut and no team would be willing to sign him since no players want him on their team.

I believe you do not like him for personal reasons and I can understand that but never wish that on anyone. With your background, I would never think that you would say something like that because you do know the dangers of being seriously injured and I know them from a personal perspective. Could we keep this discussion to what is best for the Browns when it comes to the quarterback battle.

There is a Brady thread and let's try and take that type of conversation over there and keep the discussion on the Cleveland Browns. Thanks.

So, in other words...you want him to go Claussen...
