Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

Better be at least a second round pick if that's the case.

see, I could live with that deal, if we get some decent picks in return. Denver's first rounder, which I doubt is on the table, would give us 3 early picks, and at least 3 starters you would assume.

A good move for the Browns.

Especially when Denver's first round pick, could put you in the running for Malcolm.

There is supposed to be some chatter about bq and Rogers to Denver for Cutler and draft picks but I do not see anything.

Sounds like more idle message board speculation. Why would Denver be interested in Rogers? All the Cutler talk seems to be consistently centered around Washington, Tampa and the Jets. The Browns are rarely mentioned outside of Cleveland.

Denver needs a DT like no other.

Rumors about Braylon being on the block. ProFootballTalk.com - BRAYLON EDWARDS AVAILABLE AFTER ALL?

Browns wanted to trade Braylon to the Giants for a 2nd rounder, a 5th rounder, and Steve Smith. From what I've seen of Steve Smith, I like him. Not that it matters. :p

Clarification regarding the possibility of the Browns trading Edwards to the Giants. The Browns wanted Steve Smith and not the second and fifth draft selections. I would have taken the draft picks and bundled a couple second rounders and moved up into the first round and tried to get one of the more talented WRs coming out of college. Perhaps even Crabtree if we could get that high up with two draft choices.

Report: Giants and Cleveland Browns discuss trade for Edwards
by By Mary Kay Cabot
Monday March 23, 2009, 9:14 AM

The New York Giants have inquired about trading for Browns receiver Braylon Edwards, Ken Palmer of The Giant Insider reported.

The report debunks rumors that the Browns had talked about trading Edwards for Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka. Instead, the Giants reportedly offered Cleveland the two draft picks they received from the Saints last year in exchange for tight end Jeremy Shockey: a second and fifth.

The Browns asked for receiver Steve Smith instead and were told no. The Giants then offered either of two other receivers, Domenik Hixon of the University of Akron and Mario Manningham, a native of Warren, Oh. The Browns declined both.

Talks ended after that, but could heat up around draft time, the report speculated.

Another veteran corner on the market.. Saints cut Mike McKenzie. Pretty good CB. Maybe the Browns will show interest in one of the 23592439 starting corners who have been released/on the market this off-season..

ProFootballTalk.com - SAINTS CUT MCKENZIE

I would summarize, but the title says it all.

i dont know guys. As a packers fan I would advise staying away from him. Another bad attitude waiting to happen.

Man, how far has Manningham fallen? I thought he was destined to be a pretty good NFL reciever a couple of years ago...

Damn!! I would have traded Edwards for a 2nd, 5th, and Hixon. Edwards is good as gone after this year anyhoo. Why not get something for him? Maybe management is holding out for a better deal BUT we need capable young bodies. The two draft picks plus Hixon would be a good deal IMO. I would be very surprised if the Browns could get a better deal than that. Also allow me to add the 2nd round pick is 45th overall and the 5th rounder is either 143rd or 156th.

they get better value holding on to him this year, then slapping the franchise tag on him. and, to add to that, if there does end up being an uncapped year in 2010, then he will only be a RFA, which means cleveland would probably get a 1st round pick for him after next year.

That would depend upon whether someone would want him:wink2: or not especially for a first-round pick. I think a second and third pick would almost equally first-round choice because you could bundle those picks. Also, I don't want to take the chance of Edwards blowing a knee or something. I say strike while the iron is hot.
