I thought I read on Cleveland.com a couple weeks ago that the new management favored Anderson over BQ but there were also saying they might just be Ihyping Anderson to get some value for him.NFBuck;1422953; said:Agreed with this. He loafed last year and obviously has concentration issues (too much "Five Hour Energy"?), but this is a contract year. More importantly, if you trade him, who becomes the go to guy? Stallworth (maybe, if he could stay on the field for more than three consecutive plays without pulling a hamstring)? A rookie (that's a role of the dice)? BQ is still a young QB who needs a veteran go to guy. I know Braylon was hardly that last year, but don't underestimate the motivation of a contract year. The defense needs too much help to go WR at #5. Hey! That T.O. guy got cut today!
Cleveland Browns re-sign safety Mike Adams

The Browns re-signed safety Mike Adams to a three-year deal Thursday, his agent Peter Schaffer said. A source said it's a $4.1 million deal.
Adams had also visited the Packers and Patriots.
Originally signed by the Browns as a free agent in April 2007, Adams started five games for the Browns last season and played in 14.
With fellow free-agent safety Sean Jones visiting the Eagles Friday, Adams becomes a leading candidate for a starting safety job. Last season, he started the opener in place of Brodney Pool (concussion) and the next four games in place of Jones, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery.
He finished the season with 42 tackles, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
Adams (5-11, 195), is a sixth-year pro who was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by San Francisco in 2004 out of Delaware. Adams, also a key special teams player, finished second on the team in 2007 with 18 special teams tackles.
Cleveland Browns in a rush to work out Texas DE Brian Orakpo
by Mary Kay Cabot / Plain Dealer Reporter
Friday March 06, 2009, 3:07 PM
CLEVELAND -- The Browns will travel to Austin, Texas on March 18 to privately work out University of Texas defensive end Brian Orakpo, a source close to Orakpo told the Austin Statesman.
Orakpo, a candidate for the Browns' No. 5 overall pick, will also participate in Texas' Pro Day workout on March 25. But the extra workout by the Browns indicates strong interest on their part.
The source said that other teams showing interest are Cincinnati at No. 6, Green Bay at No. 9 and Denver at No. 12.
Orakpo, who would play outside linebacker in the Browns' 3-4 scheme, could be the edge-rusher they need to jump start their anemic pass rush. Last season, they had just 17 sacks, the second fewest in the NFL. Meanwhile, Orakpo was busy recording 11 1/2 sacks as a senior at Texas.
Browns coach Eric Mangini said at the NFL Combine that he would never draft a player who could only rush the passer, but Orakpo (6-3, 263) insists he can do it all, including stopping the run and dropping into coverage.
But ideally?
"In a perfect world, I just want to rush the passer, first through fourth down,'' he said at the Combine. "Any position where I can be effective doing what I naturally do best, and that's getting after the passer and affecting him. It's not all about the sacks, it's all about pressure.''
NFL Network's Mike Mayock compares Orakpo to Cowboys' three-time Pro Bowl linebacker DeMarcus Ware, who has averaged more than 13 sacks in his four seasons, and had 20 in 2008.
"I think he's athletic enough to stand up like (the Cowboys') DeMarcus Ware," Mayock said at the Combine. "I thought Ware was the best player in that (2005) draft and Orakpo is pretty close. I think he's a 3-4 linebacker. I like him a lot. He fits (the Browns') scheme. To me, he's not a reach at 5."
Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said at the Combine that new Browns general manager George Kokinis was part of a study in Baltimore that showed that college sack production was an indicator of NFL success.

Well, I certainly agree that I don't want to be set back another 2-3 years and you are correct when you say gutting the team would do exactly that.billmac91;1423624; said:I dislike the idea of gutting this team. I know Edwards hasn't been traded, but if he is you're looking at a completely different offense. Add to that Jamal Lewis is on his last legs.
This team was VERY talented offensively...why they didn't produce last year is up for debate, but they should have made the playoffs in 2007. I hate when a new regime comes in and just cleans house....normally it provides a buffer zone to initially suck b/c your plan is just being put into motion.
I agree Edwards sucked last year, but if he can be developed at all to catch the ball, he is a top 3 receiver athletically. I'd rather roll with a guy who is known on the team, and established than trade him away.
How about Mangini comes in, kicks some ass like John Harbaugh, and win with the players on the roster. They got rid of a cancer in Winslow for some value, but a complete overhaul is just wasting another 2-3 years.
