Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

Concerning the KWII trade, I have seen on several draft boards that we received the Bucs 2nd rounder (50 overall). I know we got a bit more than that. Has anyone heard anything about what we have received in the trade?

I don't understand why they are "undisclosed." Let us know already, like him or not KWII was a key part of this team... I hope we didn't give him away too cheaply.

I'm also not so sure I'm ok w/ this lack of activity with free agents. This team has many holes, and while the draft could generate some talent to fill them, most of the rookies won't be able to step in right away like free agents could. Now, if Mangini and Co. don't like what they see on the market, then that's fine with me... but I have to think we could improve at least a little with some decent signings.

jabrari greer and cj mosley could both be browns by the end of the week. and it's long been said that cleveland would wait out the initial round of massive overspending before getting active in the FA market. Look at the assinine contract Denver gave to Goodman. I'm glad Cleveland isn't signing guys to contracts like that. Cleveland will end up signing a handful of guys that will contribute to modest deals.

We also received their fifth round draft choice in next year's draft.

I am all for building for the future.

I can't imagine there is any sane Browns fan out there saying "Oh no, what are they doing? Now they won't win next season." This team is a grease fire and needs to be torn down and built back up.

I still believe that there is talent in key areas that can be built upon, but you have to find the right parts. I hope that's what Mangini and Co. are doing.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I don't want to see us overpay for anyone. I'm cool with not signing anybody if there's no young talent out there worth the price. I hadn't heard about us pursuing Greer and Mosley, that'd be great if we can get either of them w/ a reasonable contract.

We have to sign some DB help and a little bit of other defensive help or next season we will set a record for the most passing yards given up in a season. I agree with the fact that we should not overpay but we do need a little help and we can't get it all from the draft. I don't want to be another Detroit next season and if we don't get some help from some place we will be in very bad shape.

I think Greer visited Cleveland yesterday, on his way to Tampa right now I do believe.

EDIT: Going to New Orleans, not Tampa.

On Monday, a league source advised us that the new regime in Cleveland -- known lovingly in league circles as "ManKok" -- would likely be interested in Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler as an alternative to Derek Anderson and/or Brady Quinn.

I know, I know...just throwing it out there. Also, "ManKok"...uh, yeah.

Cleveland Browns continue pursuit of ex-New York Jets
by Tony Grossi/Plain Dealer Reporter
Wednesday March 04, 2009, 12:50 PM

CLEVELAND -- New York Jets free agents David Bowens and C.J. Mosley are scheduled to arrive in Cleveland tonight, so their visits with the Browns will extend to Thursday.

Both players are versatile reserves, Bowens at inside and outside linebacker and Mosely at defensive end or inside in a sub pass rush.
The visits of cornerbacks Chris Carr and Jabari Greer ended without either player apparently signing a contract. The Browns are not commenting and neither is the agent of either player.

Meanwhile, Giants safety James Butler, a player of interest to the Browns, continues to work on securing a contract with the St. Louis Rams to reunite with former Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

Also, Browns safety Mike Adams concluded a visit in Green Bay today and reportedly is heading to visit New England.

I never saw that... do you have a link or do you know what the conditions are? Are they more health based or are the performance based?

it was in cnnsi in a little blurb he did. i would imagine that the trade escalators are performance based, which would indirectly be health based.
