Cleveland Browns (2008 Season)

Explain to me where I have defended the Bengals or any other team in this discussion. I am pointing out to one poster who seems to think that the Browns don't allow these things to happen on their team. Thats it. And as the facts show indeed these things DO happen "under their colors"

you really don't want to play that game....you had to go back almost 4 years for some of that...we can go back to last year and find more arrests than that on the Bengals

Bucky Katt gets it, you seem to want to compare the Browns to Bengals.

It's not even close.

The Browns fall in line with the rest of the NFL when it comes to arrests. The Bengals just embarass the NFL and make life easier for the other organizations.

How many teams have had a player considered a "one man crime wave" and needed Roger Godell to come in for a team meeting?

Once again, I am not saying that any team is better here, but here is just a jist of players who were arrested "under your colors"

Reuben Droughns, fresh off a not-guilty verdict in a DUI trial, spent a night in jail last month after the Cleveland Browns running back was arrested for allegedly throwing his wife out the door (literally).

Mike Mason, 22, has been in police custody since his arrest late Saturday night.

The wide receiver pleaded not guilty to aggravated disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstructing official business, all misdemeanors.

Bodden was arrested outside Cleveland Hopkins Airport today and charged with aggravated disorderly conduct and resisting arrest

Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Gerard Warren pleaded guilty to a gun charge Friday, five months after he was arrested while attending a party thrown by Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress.

Browns fullback Mike Sellers was charged Tuesday felony cocaine possession after being arrested along with teammate Lamar Chapman, who was charged with felony drug abuse, following a Monday night traffic stop in Cleveland.

Want me to keep going?

I guess my issue here is the current regime wasn't even in office for Gerard Warren...Reuban Droughns was let go after the season, with many thinking he should have been re-signed.

Where is Mike Sellers now?

Leigh Bodden isn't on the roster anymore.

Don't think Mason has been on the roster for quite some time.

Basically, what you've shown is the Browns move these guys out one way or the other if they're arrested. I'd say the Browns do have a great track record after reading this list over the last 3 or 4 years. I didn't even realize how good it was until reading that. They haven't let criminal behavior become a culture or the 'norm' unlike the Bengals. I thought it interesting to hear Chad Johnson complain about the Bengals letting Henry go after his 5th arrest.

apparently your illiterate; as my only "under our colors" comment was made about Kellen Winslow Jr. I typed out his full name and I typed it really slow so you could read it. I'm referring specifically to him in that instance.

That said; and for the fourteenth time, I never stated the Browns were a beacon of light for the rest of the NFL. I'm saying its nice to be affiliated with a franchise that doesn't have a lot of serious misconduct.

Bodden isn't on the team and hasnt been since the trade. Wright is on his way out, and my god you had to reach back quite a ways to find some trash now didnt you? Fact is, It wasn't me that turned this thread into a Browns vs Bengals... my comment was "our NFL counterparts" - which is exactly where you chimed in making it a Cincy vs Cleveland thing.

Cleveland has had its share of downers, many of them not recently and I'm very thankful for that . But your post just goes to show that our act ( for the most part) is quite clean. You've made a better argument in favor of my point than I could ever dream. - I appreciate it.

As with dynasty I'll keep my mouth shut about such issues now and stick with just team news. Sorry about mucking up the thread...

Good for the Browns too take action; we don't want these types of people on our roster plain and simple. I like him being cut, it shows were intolerant of this behavior unlike some our of NFL counterparts.

Here is your quote that started this whole thing. I pointed out like EVERY OTHER TEAM, the Browns to have criminals on their roster. And just said don't act like you don't I have never defended or said any other team was better or compared them to the Browns other than to point out that indeed again EVERY TEAM has these people. Just admit that the facts show that you team is NOT Completly intolerant of such behavior and the debate is over.

I keep checking this thread hoping for Browns updates and instead I get a pissing match between Browns and Bungles fans. Come on people save the arguing for PM's. We're better than this......We are Browns fans. GO BROWNIES! WOOF, WOOF, WOOF!

I second Buckeyedynasty's post. Let's try and keep this forum to Browns news and discussion. I think that is why it was put here.:)

and how many of those guys committed a crime under Romeo Crennel and Phil Savage? What has happened to the players that have committed a crime under Romeo Crennel and Phil Savage?

Why do certain teams have players getting arrested at ridiculous rates?

The question was how many players on the roster have committed a crime, not who the coach was.

As far as I can tell, most of them have eventually been cut, let walk, or traded. Which is what should happen, particularly for repeat offenders. My point is that the Browns, just like every other team, have a couple guys on there who have screwed up at some point in their career. The front office have overlooked past transgressions in drafting and signing certain players.

Not that there is anything wrong with that. I honestly don't think the Browns should in anyway be chastised or criticized for signing these guys, but I do think that the acquisition of these players does preclude the fanbase from proclaiming that the organization doesn't want "These types of people."

Why do certain teams have players getting arrested at ridiculous rates?
Because certain teams are stupid. They give players extra chances they don't deserve and they refuse to do what they ought to do with certain talented players which results in a clubhouse full of dopes that don't seem to understand the concept of accountability.

Any chance we could get back to actually discussing football instead of debating who is more insecure about what the players on their favorite team(s) have done or are accused of doing??

Nah......

If discussing the Browns in the Browns' thread is wrong.....

And don't forget.....for some of us, hockey season is over. :(

That quote started nothing; it was your reaction that did. You took my statement as a reflection on the Bengals, the sooner you realize that you have have mistaken whom that commented was directed at is when this debate will be over.

I'll say one last time; this team is not perfect, but since our current front office has been in administration and within the past several years, our franchise has had a very solid reputation for not turning out mass felons and/or criminals. Due several of them have a history? - that's a resounding YES. Have many of our players and star athletes kept a high standard? - YES. Is it possible we'll still have an issue sooner or later? - Yep Will this organization tolerate and more importantly leave unpunished this type of unnacceptable behavior? - Hell NO.

Am I getting through to you at all man??

last comment and then I'm backing out b/c I don't want to further pollute the thread.

The question was, who is currently a criminal? Kenny Wright is the only current criminal. I doubt Kenny Wright lasts much longer. Your previous post displays that nicely.

The question wasn't, "who on the roster has committed a crime?"

I don't consider myself a criminal b/c of a transgression 6 years ago.

The players who have committed crimes while on the team, don't stay on the roster very long. That's how you keep a culture of criminal behavior off the team.
