UPDATE: 1:14 PM, Monday, October 1, 2007

REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

CLEVELAND Does an offensive line that didn?t allow a sack Sunday have room for Ryan Tucker?

The Browns must decide by later today whether the veteran right tackle will be restored to the 53-man roster coming off a four-week, steroid-related suspension.

Head Coach Romeo Crennel was noncommittal about the 32-year-old Tucker, who has played in 129 NFL games and has been the Browns? primary right tackle since 2002.

No time to celebrate win

BEREA -- Leave it to the old guy to unplug the jukebox when just about everyone else in the Browns locker room is joining Queen in a chorus of ''We are the Champions.''

Moments after the Browns thumped the menacing Ravens 27-13 Sunday, players talked about how far such a convincing victory could carry them.

Unlike the 51-45 victory over the Bengals two weeks earlier, the Browns dominated the Ravens on offense, special teams and defense. Defense was lacking when the Browns beat Cincinnati.

Tucker returns from four-game suspension
JEFF SCHUDEL, Morning Journal Writer
10/02/2007

BEREA -- Ryan Tucker was back in the locker room yesterday for the first time in a month, eager to put his month-long suspension behind him and get on with the business of playing football again.

The Browns have one week to evaluate Tucker. By next Monday, general manager Phil Savage and coach Romeo Crennel have to decide whether to reinstate him, at which point they would have to remove another player from the roster if they decide to give him another chance.

Ryan Tucker returns to Cleveland Browns after serving suspension

Tuesday, October 02, 2007 Mary Kay Cabot
Plain Dealer Reporter
Browns right tackle Ryan Tucker returned on Monday after serving a four-week suspension for using steroids.
Tucker can practice with the Browns this week and be activated for the New England game if they think he's ready. If not, they have until Monday to either activate him or release him.
"We'll bring him in and check his conditioning, to see where he is," Browns coach Romeo Crennel said. "Then we'll make a decision at the end of the week to decide where he is going to fit or if he fits."

'P' word should be 'Pats'

McGinest reminds Browns to lay off the playoff talk
Tuesday, October 02, 2007 Mary Kay Cabot
Plain Dealer Reporter
While some of the Browns uttered the "P" word - playoffs - and dished about two division wins after the victory over Baltimore, Browns linebacker Willie McGinest reminded his teammates they will be standing in front of an oncoming freight train this weekend in New England.
He ought to know. He won three Super Bowls with the Patriots.
"It's not big at all," McGinest said of the Browns' surprising 2-1 mark in the AFC North. "It doesn't mean nothing. We're 2-2. We've got a long way to go. Each game gets harder. We've got the New England Patriots, who are undefeated [heading into Monday night's game against Cincinnati]. They're one of the best teams - if not the best team - in the league. To win some division games, that's great. But we can't relax and start patting ourselves on the back."

While I'm always pleased with a Brown's victory especially over the Ratbirds, I still wish they would play Brady at QB. I do not think Anderson made any throws today that BQ could not have made and might have completed some passes that Anderson missed. Maybe Anderson made some reads and checkoffs that Brady might have missed but I don't think that he has much touch when he throws the ball. While I don't want the Browns to lose or for Anderson to get hurt may be a simple ankle sprain to Anderson would get Brady in there and we could see how he does perform.

This coming from the same guy who wanted to cut Cribbs after the first preseason game. I wish I had a dollar for every post of yours that makes me say WTF, I'd be a rich man. If Anderson keeps playing like this and Quinn sits for the rest of the season it will be a good year for the Brown.

Anyone know much about this "UFO" defense?

The Browns used the UFO defense in their second season back in the NFL. On passing downs the DL and Linebackers ran around before the snap so that that the OL can't get a read on where they are rushing from. The Ravens were doing some crazy movement like this as well Sunday.

Thanks.

Sounds like a rather uncertain scheme that could really mess up the defense as much as the offense. But if it works; then who am I to complain.

Please forgive me regarding Cribbs but I never thought he would have been this good of a return man and special-teams player. However, he still has a lot to learn with regard to playing WR.

The comment I made returning Anderson was that he is an up-and-down player. I have no problems with him playing as long as he is consistent like he was Sunday but that has been his problem in the past. If Brady sits off season and Anderson performs like he did on Sunday I have no problems with that. But that is a big If.

Maybe I want the Browns to win so bad I will make you a wealthy man some day but I'm sorry if you disagree with the majority of my posts. Maybe you will buy into the following.

It is strange to think that everyone at the beginning of the season was worried about our OL and now it is position of strength with Tucker coming back. If Chuck comes back, and I know it is doubtful, after the bye week maybe we could trade one of our offensive for a couple of defensive lineman. I hope that doesn't make you say WTF. I guess each of us have our own opinions and I am sorry that you disagree with all of mine.
