NFL INSIDER
Browns stuck on same track with decision to train

Sunday, January 21, 2007Tony Grossi
Plain Dealer Reporter
The hiring of Rob Chudzinski as Browns offensive coordinator continues the on-the-job-training mentality in Berea.
Whenever a key position opens, the Browns more times than not fill it with a person who has never held the job before in the NFL.

Chudzinski?s job: Go on attack
Sunday, January 21, 2007
By Steve Doerschuk repository sports writer

BEREA You live in San Diego. You?re a coach on a Chargers team with a healthy lead on New England.
Win, and you are a game closer to returning to Miami, where you won NCAA championships as a tight ends coach and offensive coordinator. This time, it would be with a chance to win a Super Bowl.

On-the-job training is the Browns' way

Monday, January 22, 2007Bud Shaw
Plain Dealer Columnist
No one should have ex pected the next offensive coordinator to ride into town on a white horse. But training wheels again?
Rob Chudzinski, raised in Toledo, followed his heart here. However anemic their offense, the Browns made more sense for him than he does for them.

BEREA -- Rob Chudzinski had a simple response when asked why he would leave the San Diego Chargers, the highest scoring team in the NFL in 2006, to take over the Browns' woeful offense.

''It was a decision I made with my heart and head,'' Chudzinski said yesterday morning during a hastily called press conference at the Browns complex in Berea. ''I want to be part of this organization and I like challenges. If you're a coach and you don't like challenges, then you shouldn't be coaching.''

Monday, January 22, 2007 Tony Grossi

Browns continue coaching shuffle
Tuesday, January 23, 2007
By Steve Doerschuk REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

BEREA The January winds of change keep blowing on the Browns' coaching staff.
Special-teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg must be replaced after bolting to the Atlanta Falcons. In 2005, Rosburg and Terry Robiskie were the only Butch Davis-era assistants retained by Romeo Crennel. Rosburg's units arguably were the brightest part of the team in 2006, when the Browns ranked among the league leaders in several categories. The only glitch was a surprise slump by place-kicker Phil Dawson.
The Browns are expected to announce the hiring of Tom Myslinski as strength coach. A 38-year-old native of Rome, N.Y., Myslinski played for six teams in seven seasons, including 1996 and '97 with the Steelers.
