Cleveland Browns (2007 & prior)

Wow! I'm not sure if that would be a good move or not. On one hand Vick is still a great QB. On the other hand we have so many positions that need to be addressed in the draft....maybe if there are some quality OL left on the board it might not be a bad move for the Browns....I feel that is one of the major issues to be addressed (OL), besides the front office :)
I deleted it because I think someone on an Atl. board made the whole thing up. I couldn't find the article where he said it was. Think I was duped. Can't imagine Atl. taking that cap hit anyhow. And Petrino wants one year with Vick to see what he can do.

I'd love to trade Braylon, but I think that's a horrible idea for us. Braylon + a 1st round pick for Vick ? Are you kidding me? Vick isn't that good, we still wouldn't have an Oline, we'd have no long-term receivers, and we'd lose a 1st pick? Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

There are actual legit rumors about Cleveland trading for QB Matt Schaub. He will be a very good QB for someone. Not sure you would like the price though, probably the #3 or #4 pick in the draft, or a 3rd this year and next years 1st. Depends on how serious Cleveland is about winning now I think.

NO WAY!!! Schaub is an ok QB but a 3rd and a 1ST ROUND??? No way...I'll stick with Frye for that price....

that is the price, unless it is a top 10 pick this year. Someone will give a 1st and another pick, a team offered it last year but the 1st was around 22-25. Atlanta held out for a better deal this year.

Someone will have better luck getting TO and him not being an ass for the organization than getting that price for Schaub...I can see a team doing it for Vick, but not a backup that really hasn't proved himself too much in the league...

That is exactly what the Falcons are looking for for Schaub. It is WAY too high a price to pay. He is an unproven backup who (I believe) has never won a game he started for them.

OT Butler stays with Browns
Saturday, January 13, 2007

The Cleveland Browns extended offensive tackle Kelly Butler's contract through 2008 on Friday. The move helped Butler keep his foot in the door of a team that knows him. It gave the Browns insurance against not getting right tckle Ryan Tucker back from a psychological disorder, not signing a tackle in free agency, and not drafting a tackle within the first two rounds.

Question remains the same for Browns
NFL insider
BY MARK CURNUTTE | [email protected]
For a team with many needs, the Browns' greatest need still might be at quarterback.
Charlie Frye has a 5-12 record as a starter, but his performance is tied to that of a poor team. Backup Derek Anderson, who won a game in relief and then went 0-3 as the starter, is not the answer, either. Cleveland has a need for a proven veteran quarterback.
Yet general manager Phil Savage is non-committal.

Can you believe what you can't see?

Monday, January 15, 2007 Bud Shaw
Plain Dealer Columnist
Playoff teams come in all shapes and complexions. They come every which way except invisible.
Owner Randy Lerner supposedly hears from league insiders that the Browns have the makings of a good organization, that all the deft, good work under way in yet another rebuilding project just happens to be "invisible because of what happens on Sunday afternoons."
