BROWNS YEAR IN REVIEW
The loss cause: Browns are still searching for it

Sunday, January 07, 2007 Tony Grossi
Plain Dealer Reporter
The only thing the Browns accomplished in 2006 was create a buzz in the off-season by signing eight free agents.
And that lasted only until the first day of training camp, when prize center LeCharles Bentley tore up his knee without being touched.

Romeo's analogy as poor as his season

Sunday, January 07, 2007 Bud Shaw
Plain Dealer Columnist
Romeo Crennel referenced the film "We Are Marshall" as a way of pointing out how the Browns also started from scratch in 1999.
This may sound like nitpicking. But one slight difference is that Marshall - how do I say this tactfully? - LOST ITS ENTIRE FOOTBALL PROGRAM IN A PLANE CRASH.

Sunday, January 07, 2007 Tony Grossi
Plain Dealer Reporter
Let your mind wander and imagine the next Browns coach.
Bill Cowher or Bill Belichick?
Cowher on Friday confirmed what has been predicted here for months. He "resigned" as Pittsburgh Steelers coach after 15 seasons and said he will take 2007 off to be with his family. After that, he can be a coaching free agent and sign with any team without compensation to the Steelers.

BEREA The baby face is harder. The walls seem closer. It has been two years since Phil Savage took over as Browns general manager. He talked then about building a culture of winning. Scherer makes his call

Browns interview potential play-caller
Thursday, January 11, 2007 Tony Grossi
Plain Dealer Reporter
How does Rip Scherer grab you as the next Browns offensive coordinator?
Yes, that Rip Scherer.
While everyone has assumed that interim play-caller Jeff Davidson would be the logical in-house choice, Scherer, the quarterbacks coach the past two sea sons, has emerged as a strong candi date

Savage must have Crennel take charge

By Terry Pluto

Rather than fire Romeo Crennel, the Browns have decided to try to help their head coach in areas where he obviously has struggled.
At his postseason news conference Wednesday, General Manager Phil Savage indicated that he and owner Randy Lerner decided that Crennel was dealt a rather lousy hand of injuries, fading veterans and other problems.

For the Brown fan/Vick haters, enjoy......"ESPN Joe Schad reports that there is some interest from the Clevand Brown that there could be a blockbuster trade in the works that would send Braylon Edwards and their first round pick to Atlanta Falcons for Michael Vick. This would impose a $24 plus million cap penalty for the Falcons but could use it as leverage to gain 3 first round picks if Matt Schuab is traded also. Now getting all three of thes forst round picks under the cap could be had to swallow. But with no QB on the roster the Falcons could have thier pick of Brady Quinn or Jamarcus Russel."
Wow! I'm not sure if that would be a good move or not. On one hand Vick is still a great QB. On the other hand we have so many positions that need to be addressed in the draft....maybe if there are some quality OL left on the board it might not be a bad move for the Browns....I feel that is one of the major issues to be addressed (OL), besides the front office :)
